Sishun Qingliang Yin: Treats children with stagnant and full blood vessels, accumulated heat in the zang-fu organs, red cheeks accompanied by thirst, five-palm heat (heat sensation in the palms, soles, and chest), restlessness during sleep, and convulsive jerking of the four limbs. It is also indicated for conditions caused by irregular breastfeeding or improper regulation of cold and warmth, leading to disharmony of qi and blood and dysfunction of the intestines and stomach, resulting in difficult urination and defecation. It addresses impending jingxian (epileptic seizures characterized by sudden loss of consciousness and limb convulsions), phlegm-heat nodules (subcutaneous swellings), sores on the head and face, red eyes, sore throat, and residual toxins from skin eruptions. For all types of stagnation complicated by heat, if accompanied by incessant diarrhea, add Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and Wei Dahuang (Baked Rhubarb).
Ingredients: Chishaoyao (Red Peony Root), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (equal parts).
Crush the ingredients. For a three-year-old child, use two qian, add six fen of water and two leaves of Bohe (Mint), boil until it has boiled eight or nine times, strain the dregs, and take at any time. If urination is obstructed, add Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus) and Mutong (Akebiae Caulis).
Dahuang Poxiao Tang: Treats pediatric jingre (fever due to fright) and xianfeng (wind syndrome with phlegm), with obstruction of both anterior and posterior orifices.
Ingredients: Chuandahuang (Steamed Rhubarb), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), Poxiao (Mirabilite) (each one liang).
Crush the above ingredients. Take two qian per dose, add half a zhan of water and a little honey, decoct until one-third remains, and take at any time.
Chaihu Yinzi: Treats shanghan (cold damage disease) after five or six days, presenting with fever or chaore (tidal fever), constipation; taken by the nursing mother to be transmitted through breast milk.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome), Gancao (Roasted Licorice Root) (each half liang).
Cut into small pieces. Adjust dosage according to age, decoct with ginger.
Wuhe Tang: Primarily used to promote the discharge of accumulated heat in the zang-fu organs and harmonize ying (nutritive) and wei (defensive) qi.
Ingredients: Danggui (Washed with wine), Chifuling (Red Poria with Skin Removed) (each half liang), Gancao (Roasted Licorice Root), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus) (soaked in water, remove the pith, slice, stir-fry with wheat bran until slightly yellow) (each seven qian and half).
Cut the above ingredients. Take two qian per dose, add one zhan of water, decoct until seven-tenths remain, and take warm at any time.
Kuanre Yin: Primarily treats latent heat within the interior, wind stagnation causing fullness, shortness of breath, and dizziness or faintness. It is also suitable for long-standing stagnation in the spleen and stomach, reduced appetite, sallow complexion, excess pulse, and irregular fever.
Ingredients: Zhike (Remove pith, one liang, slice, stir-fry together with fifteen seeds of Badou (Crotonis Fructus); split Badou into two pieces, remove shell membrane and heart, stir-fry with Zhike until slightly yellow, then discard Badou), Dahuang (one liang), Fencao (Licorice Root, seven qian and half), Xuanmingfen (Natrii Sulfas Exsiccatus) (two qian and half).
Crush and roast the first three ingredients into powder. Before administration, add Xuanmingfen and grind uniformly with the previous powder in a mortar. Take half qian to one qian mixed with water at any time; for smaller infants, take an amount equivalent to "yi zi" (a very small measure), using ginger-honey soup or mint soup for delivery.
Sanhuang Wan: Treats accumulated heat in the sanjiao (Triple Burner), red and swollen eyes, swelling and pain in the head and neck, sores in the mouth and tongue, irritability in the heart and diaphragm, poor appetite, constipation and difficult urination, excess heat in the five zang organs, hematochezia (fresh blood in stool), and hot syndromes such as furuncles.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Dahuang (Baked Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (equal parts).
