This condition arises from the struggle between wind-heat toxic pathogens and qi-blood, leading to stagnation and condensation into nodules. The morphology resembles beads strung together, located between the ears and the neck. The swelling is hard, white in color, immobile upon pushing, and has a root; this is Scrofula (Luo Li). Some may ulcerate and form malignant sores. If treated with herbal medicine, it often proves ineffective. It is most wonderful to use moxibustion with burning lamps (Deng Huo), which is both easy to perform and highly effective. I myself suffered from this disease and was cured after two sessions of lamp moxibustion. Here, I present the lamp moxibustion method illustrated on the posterior view of the body. If the scrofula is on the left, moxaize the left side; if on the right, moxaize the right side. Start from above the anterior neck below the earlobe, at a distance of six fen from the skin, moxaize point by point vertically down to the breast, then pass through the upper hypochondrium to reach the Feishu (BL13) acupoint, stopping at the back of the neck above the ear. Moxaize around the scrofula as well. For the second session, supplement the empty spaces along the original route to achieve a cure. If there are only nodules that can be moved, it is not scrofula. Redness and swelling at the onset indicate Carbuncle and Furuncle (Yong Ju), which should not be treated as scrofula.
For enlargement of the scrotal sac (Yin Nang Zi), where one side is swollen and the other small, decoct Xiangru (Elsholtziae Herba), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Zhiqiao fried with ginger juice (Aurantii Fructus), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Bian Dou (Dolichoris Semen), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Cheqianye (Plantaginis Leaf) for oral administration. Alternatively, take approximately five cun of Wannianqing root (Rhinacanthi Nasuti Radix), remove the black skin, crush it, and decoct it with Baijiu (Baijiu). Drink the liquid without consuming the dregs, and the condition will also resolve.
The penis (Yang Wu). If swollen, decoct Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), each one qian, and take orally for a cure.
Renal cysts resembling glass lanterns. Collect floating duckweed (Wugeng Fuping) from the surface of pond water, place it in a sieve, set the sieve over a basin of water, and dry it under the scorching sun until powdered. Take two qian per dose, and the swelling and pain will subside. If dried in a pot, it will never become dry.
Cholera (Huoluan). Moxaize Kunlun (BL60) acupoint with seven moxa cones (zhuang); it produces miraculous effects, even reviving the seemingly dead.
Malaria mass (Nuomu - a mass resulting from chronic malaria). Moxaize Feishu (BL13) acupoint with three moxa cones on each side, and three moxa cones on the back point corresponding to the umbilicus; this yields miraculous results.
Rectal prolapse (Tuogang). Moxaize Weitui (GV1) acupoint. For temporary symptom relief, administer Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Spleen-Raising Decoction) for ten doses. This is caused by the sinking of Lung qi.
Abdominal distension with prominent veins, hard as iron and stone. Moxaize two moxa cones at points five fen away from the umbilicus in the superior, inferior, left, and right directions; the swelling will dissipate.
Dog bite (Quan Shang). Mix moss from green bricks (Qingtai) with cow dung, pound into a paste, and apply. If bitten by a mad dog, moxaize the wound site with three moxa cones for a cure.
