王(司前，十三岁) 液被泻损，口渴舌白面黄，不是实热，血由络下，粪从肠出，乃异

钱(七岁)暑风上入，气分先受非风寒停滞，用发散消导者，气分窒痹(气分何以窒痹，

燥劫津液耳。)头岑腹痛，治之非法，邪热入血分矣(遍阅全部伤寒论，止是存津液为主。自
西昌喻氏法律一书，通首发明此旨，故先生得力处全在于此。六气病邪原先伤气分，治之非
法，燥液劫津，即延入血分矣。)
连翘心 竹叶心 犀角尖 益元散 绿豆壳 南花粉
从来治病要诀，皮毛之邪，轻剂发散，疏之泄之，微汗即已。若热入肌肉，渐留经络脏
腑，
此时郁热在里，汗出津津，燥烁津液，即应存养津液以达邪。若夫脏腑真阳发露，亟予滋补
，惟恐不及矣，敢燥烁乎?
徐(二十四岁) 据述暴惊动怒，内伤由肝及胃，胃脉衰，肝风动，浮肿下起。若漫延中
宫，渐次凶矣。两年余久恙，先议薛新甫法。
八味丸(二两五钱，匀十服)
谢(葑门，三十四岁) 上下失血，头胀口渴溏泻。若是阴虚火升，不应舌白色黄，饥不
纳食
，忽又心嘈，五十日病中吸受暑气热气，察色脉须清心养胃(辨症细切，用药清灵，工夫到
此，踌躇满志矣。)
人参 竹叶心 麦冬 木瓜 生扁豆 川石斛
张三十九岁 中年色萎黄，脉弦空，知饥不欲食，不知味(胃阴枯矣。)据说春季外感咳
嗽，延
秋气怯神弱，乃病伤成劳。大忌消痰理嗽(此一句保全无数生灵，人知消痰理嗽为要务，此
以消痰理嗽为大忌。医理精超极矣。)
Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) is modified with equal parts of Wumei (Mume Fructus, 乌梅) and Caoguo (Tsao-ko Fruit, 草果), decocted with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 生姜) and Dazao (Jujubae Fructus, 大枣). By harmonizing the San Jiao (Triple Burner, 三焦) and the Four Zang Organs to assist the Spleen, it is named Si Shou Yin (Four Beasts Decoction, 四兽饮).
Patient Wang (from Siqian, aged 13): Body fluids are damaged by diarrhea, presenting with thirst, a white tongue coating, and sallow complexion. This is not an Excess Heat syndrome; blood flows from the collaterals, and stool passes from the intestines; this represents a deviation into abnormal pathology (as pointed out by Ming Huiran).
Chao Guishen (Fried Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 炒归身), Chao Baishao (Fried Radix Paeoniae Alba, 炒白芍), Wei Gegen (Baked Radix Puerariae Lobatae, 煨葛根), Chao Nanting (Fried Rhizoma Arisaematis cum Bile, 炒南星), Chaojiao Maiya (Fried and Scorched Fructus Hordei Germinatus, 炒焦麦芽), Chao Heye (Fried Nelumbinis Folium, 炒荷叶).
Patient Qian (aged 7): Summer-heat wind pathogen ascends; the Qi Division (Qi Fen, 气分) is affected first, not due to stagnation of Wind-Cold. Using dispersing and resolving methods would cause obstruction and bi-syndrome in the Qi Division (Why does obstruction occur in the Qi Division? It is generally because dryness robs the body fluids). The head feels heavy with abdominal pain; previous treatment was incorrect, allowing pathogenic heat to enter the Blood Division (Xue Fen, 血分) (Having reviewed the entire Shanghan Lun, the main principle is preserving body fluids. Since Yu Jia Yan’s *Yimen Falü* expounded this旨 extensively, Mr. Ye’s strength lies entirely here. Pathogens of the Six Qi initially injure the Qi Division; if treated improperly, dryness robs fluids, extending into the Blood Division).
Lianqiaoxin (Heart of Forsythiae Fructus, 连翘心), Zhuyexin (Heart of Bambusa Leaves, 竹叶心), Xijiaojian (Tip of Rhinocerotis Cornu, 犀角尖), Yiyuan San (Benefit the Origin Powder, 益元散), Lüdouke (Shell of Phaseolus Mungo Seed, 绿豆壳), Nanhuafen (Radix Platycodonis, 南花粉).
The key principle of treating diseases since ancient times is: for pathogens in the skin and hair, use mild agents to disperse, vent, and release them; slight sweating suffices. If heat enters the muscles and gradually lingers in the meridians, zang-fu organs, at this time, depressed heat is internal, sweating is profuse, drying and scorching body fluids; one should preserve and nourish body fluids to drive out the pathogen. As for the exposure of True Yang in the zang-fu organs, urgent tonification is needed, fearing insufficiency; how dare one use drying and scorching methods?
Patient Xu (aged 24): According to the description, sudden fright and anger caused internal injury spreading from the Liver to the Stomach; the Stomach pulse is weak, Liver Wind moves, and edema starts from the lower limbs. If it spreads to the Central Palace (Spleen/Stomach), the condition will gradually become ominous. For this chronic illness lasting over two years, first discuss treatment according to the method of Xue Xinpu (Xue Shengbai).
Ba Wei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia Root, 八味丸) (2 liang 5 qian, evenly divided into ten doses).
Patient Xie (from Fengmen, aged 34): Bleeding from above and below, head distension, thirst, and loose stools. If this were Yin deficiency with Fire rising, the tongue would not be white and the complexion yellow; hunger without desire to eat, suddenly followed by heartburn. During the 50-day illness, summer-heat and hot qi were absorbed; observing color and pulse requires clearing the Heart and nourishing the Stomach (Symptom differentiation is detailed and precise, medication is clear and spiritual; reaching this level of skill is truly satisfying).
Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参), Zhuyexin (Heart of Bambusa Leaves, 竹叶心), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 麦冬), Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus, 木瓜), Sheng Bian Dou (Raw Dolichos Lablab Seed, 生扁豆), Chuan Shihu (Dendrobii Officinalis Caulis, 川石斛).
Zhang San (aged 19): Middle-aged, sallow complexion, pulse is wiry and empty; knows hunger but has no desire to eat, cannot taste food (Stomach Yin is exhausted). It is said that spring external contraction caused coughing, which extended into autumn, resulting in timid breath and weak spirit; this is disease damage forming Consumption (Lao, 劳). Greatly contraindicated are methods for resolving phlegm and regulating cough (This sentence saves countless lives; people know resolving phlegm and regulating cough as essential tasks, yet here it is listed as a great taboo. Medical theory is exquisitely superior).
