甘，寒。止渴解毒。利二便，消黄胆，治水肿，疗痢疾。脱肛、痔 ，亦皆可愈。入白
酒煮
食，治五淋白浊。入盐少许捣，贴白游风肿。
壳
一名鬼眼睛
甘，寒。治痰饮胃痛，疗疳毒火伤。配倒挂尘，油涂小儿软疖。配辰砂、
片脑，搽杨梅疮。泥中及墙壁上年久者良。 用。

忌龟、鳖肉。
甘，冷。入手太阴、足少阴经血分。滋阴补虚，除蒸止嗽。利脏腑，治热痢，定惊痫，
消水肿。
青头雄鸭，利小便。乌嘴乌骨白鸭，补虚劳。或酒或童便煮服。肠风下血者禁用。纯黑
者勿用。目白者杀人。
忌与胡桃、木耳、豆豉同食。
甘，凉。消食积，退水肿，除疮疖，祛风热。

甘，平。微温。入足厥阴、少阴经血分。益肝肾之阴，除阴虚之热，祛心腹恶气，治折
伤痈
疽。胎前崩漏，产后蓐劳，得此自愈。佐白果、莲肉，治带下。使豆蔻、草果，治脾泄。
纯酒煮。久服动肝经风火。吐血者不宜食。（以其能动血也。故产后宜之。）乌鸡白首，
六指
四距，鸡死不伸者，并不可食，害人。
鸡属木，乌骨者得水木之气，故虚热者宜之。
怪症∶口鼻流水，腥臭难状，以碗盛之，有铁色如米粒者，此肉败也。任意食鸡肉而愈。
血
咸、平。涂中风口眼 邪。（冠血尤佳。）配酒浆，发痘。
肝
甘、苦，温。补肾虚，安胎漏，疗风虚目暗。得白芙蓉花，治疳眼。得朱砂，治惊风。
肠
止遗浊。

破血消肿，解蛇虫风毒。
Snail.
Sweet, cold. Stops thirst and detoxifies. Promotes urination and defecation, resolves jaundice, treats edema, and dysentery. Proctoptosis and hemorrhoids can also be cured. Boiled in Baijiu (Chinese liquor) and eaten, it treats five types of strangury with white turbidity. Mixed with a little salt and pounded, applied topically to treat wandering wind swelling.
Shell.
Also known as Ghost's Eyes.
Sweet, cold. Treats stomach pain due to phlegm-fluid retention, and burns caused by malnutrition toxin and fire. Paired with Daogua Chen (a type of moss/lichen), applied with oil to treat soft carbuncles in children. Paired with Cinnabar (Chen Sha) and Borneol (Pian Nao), applied to treat yaws. Those aged long in mud or on walls are superior for use.

Contraindicated with turtle meat and soft-shell turtle meat.
Sweet, cold. Enters the blood aspect of the Foot-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. Nourishes yin and tonifies deficiency, clears steaming bone disorder and stops coughing. Promotes organ function, treats heat dysentery, calms convulsions and epilepsy, and reduces edema.
Male ducks with green heads promote urination. Ducks with black bills, black bones, and white feathers tonify consumptive diseases. Decocted with wine or child's urine. Contraindicated for those with intestinal wind bleeding. Pure black ones should not be used. Ones with white eyes are lethal.
Contraindicated with walnuts, wood ear mushrooms, and fermented soybeans.
Sweet, cool. Resolves food stagnation, reduces edema, clears sores and boils, and dispels wind-heat.
(Poultry: Ten Types)
Sweet, neutral. Slightly warm. Enters the blood aspect of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian and Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. Benefits the yin of the liver and kidney, clears heat from yin deficiency, removes evil qi from the heart and abdomen, and treats traumatic injuries, carbuncles, and ulcers. For antepartum flooding and spotting, and postpartum confinement fatigue, self-healing is achieved with this. Assisted by Ginkgo seeds (Baiguo) and lotus seeds (Lianrou), it treats leukorrhea. Guided by Cardamom (Doukou) and Tsaoko (Caoguo), it treats spleen diarrhea. Decocted purely in wine. Long-term consumption stirs wind-fire in the liver meridian. Not suitable for those with hematemesis. (Because it moves blood. Thus, it is suitable postpartum.) Black chickens with white heads, six toes, four spurs, and those that die without stretching limbs are inedible and harmful to humans.
Chicken belongs to Wood. Black-boned ones receive the qi of Water and Wood, thus they are suitable for those with deficient heat.
Strange condition: Water flows from mouth and nose, foul-smelling and hard to describe. Collected in a bowl, iron-colored particles like rice grains appear; this indicates meat spoilage. Eating chicken meat at will cures it.
Blood.
Salty, neutral. Applied to facial paralysis with deviation of mouth and eyes. (Comb blood is especially good.) Paired with wine and water, induces smallpox eruption.
Liver.
Sweet, bitter, warm. Tonifies kidney deficiency, stabilizes fetal leakage, treats dim vision due to wind-deficiency. With White Hibiscus Flower (Bai Furong Hua), treats childhood malnutrition eye disease. With Cinnabar (Zhusha), treats pediatric convulsions.
Intestine.
Stops urinary dribbling and turbidity.
Feathers.
Breaks blood stasis and reduces swelling, resolves snake and insect wind-toxicity.
