There are cases where individuals feel insects moving up and down in the chest and throat, often smelling the fragrance of scallion and fermented soybean (Congchi), which indicates an outbreak of *Fa* insect (a type of parasitic skin disease). If the patient has not eaten for two days, let them lie on their back with mouth open. Fry scallion and fermented soybean in oil to release the aroma and place it near the mouth; the insects will emerge and can be removed with a tool, leading to recovery. (From Wang Tao's *Waitai Miyao*)
Another prescription: For patients suffering from *Fa* insect outbreaks who desire to drink oil, use one *sheng* (unit of volume) of oil, decoct it with *Xiangzeran* (Angelica dahurica root or similar aromatic herb), and place the vessel near the patient's head so the vapor enters the nose and mouth, but do not allow the patient to drink it. When the patient is exhausted and falls asleep, the insects will emerge from the mouth. Quickly grasp them using hands coated with calcined stone powder (*Duanshi*). Extracting them completely cures the *Fa* insect. Initially, they resemble thick vegetable matter floating in water. (From *Xia Ziyi Qiji Fang*)
In one case, an individual presented with swelling on the head and facial skin resembling a snake shape. Apply water collected from moss growing on bricks, diluted slightly, to the "snake head" area, causing immediate resolution. (From *Wei Shi Dexiao Fang*)
In another case, a person had a split in the spine from which over a thousand lice emerged. This was caused by wind pathogen in the Kidney, blown by Yang Qi, causing rupture and emergence of lice. The prescription uses three seeds of *Bimazi* (Ricini Semen, Castor Bean Seed) ground into a paste, combined with three red dates (Ziziphus jujuba) pitted and pounded into pills the size of a bullet. Burn these to fumigate clothing; the lice die, and the split heals naturally. (From *Zhang Zhongjing Waihan*)
A patient had a lump on the back, accompanied by extreme restlessness, limb fatigue, and loss of appetite. A physician diagnosed it as a "Louse Tumor." Upon incision, a mass the size of a louse was found. Wash and dry the area with a decoction of raw *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root). Mix ash from an old oiled wooden comb into powder, blend with rapeseed oil, and apply topically for immediate cure. (From *Dou Hanqing Quanshu*)
An elderly woman developed a tumor in the right axilla, growing to over one chi (approx. 33 cm), resembling a long gourd, which eventually ulcerated. A practitioner used the stem of a long-handled teapot, burned until carbonized but retaining its nature (*Cunxing*), ground into powder, and applied topically. Fluid drained out, the mass disappeared, and she recovered. (From *Li Binhu Jijian Fang*)
General Zhang from western Zhejiang suffered from venomous bites by earthworms, experiencing sounds of earthworms chirping within his body every night. A monk instructed him to soak his body several times in strong saltwater solution, resulting in recovery. (From *Bencao Beiyao*)
In some cases, sounds resembling earthworms chirping are heard between the skin and limbs, caused by parasites generated from dampness and water. Apply a thick layer (approx. one cun) of water mixed with earthworm feces to the affected area to stop the chirping immediately. (From *Shishi Milu*)
