Also known as Huanhun Dan (Reviving Soul Pill).

Harvest during the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the sixth day of the sixth lunar month, or at the Minor Heat solar term, when the flowers of Motherwort Herb (Yimucao) are in full bloom. Take the flowers and leaves, pound them in a stone mortar to extract the juice. Use a clay pot, apply vigorous fire (Wu Huo). Add Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao), or add red [ingredients/additives] into the pot for processing.

Powder Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root (Danshen). Administer with wine, 2 qian. This medicine breaks old blood stasis, generates new blood, calms and secures a living fetus, expels a dead fetus, stops metrorrhagia and leukorrhea, and regulates the menstrual channels.

Alternatively, use the following formula: Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi), Moutan Cortex (Danpi), Poria (Baifuling), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Cyperi Rhizoma (Yanhusuo, washed with wine), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Rougui), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Ligustici Rhizoma et Radix (Ben, remove rhizome base, wash with wine), each [amount] liang. Grind together into fine powder, make pills with honey. Or make pills using Motherwort Extract (Yimu Gao). Coat with 5 qian of Cinnabar (Zhusha). For female infertility, after menstruation, send down one pill with Danggui Chuanxiong Decoction. Each pill weighs 3 [qian].

To preserve [fetus/life].

Treats various diseases in women before and after childbirth. Formula includes: Amber (Hupo, 1 liang, stir-fried with vinegar, ground together with Juncus Effusus Caulis/Dengcao), Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao, 1 liang, stir-fried until bead-like), Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi, 5 qian), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, processed, 1 liang each; 5 qian in summer), Cistanches Herba (Rongshou), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Astragali Radix (Huangqi, 3 qian). Filter the dregs, simmer slowly to form an extract, mix with the medicinal powder, add a little old honey, and pound over a thousand times. Divide into 100 portions. Each pill weighs 1 qian 4 fen. Coat with Cinnabar.

Dry in shade, then sun-dry until extremely dry. Shell with yellow beeswax. Each dose [amount unspecified]. If unable to eat, take with a small amount of ginger juice, dissolved in wine.

[Another method]: Stir-fry Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Jiang) and Artemisiae Argyi Folium (Aiye) until black, decoct with wine for several boils.

For syncope due to blood loss with unconsciousness, adjust and灌 (administer) with child's urine (Tongbian).

For body deficiency edema and water qi, adjust and take with Vigna Angularis Seed (Chixiaodou) decoction.

For amenorrhea, or mixed with five-colored discharges, frequent [abdominal] pain. Five-palm heat, black [colored] blood spots.

Send down one pill. Facilitates easy delivery. Long-term use can be taken with child's urine [as vehicle].

[Pain], or if taken for ten days, appetite doubles.

This is the sacred medicine for women, the miraculous prescription for conception (seeding), tested repeatedly with consistent efficacy.

Cyperus Rotundus Rhizoma (Xiangfu) 2 jin (divide into four parts: soak separately in child's urine, rice washing water, rice vinegar, and salt water for seven days each, change once daily, take out, stir-fry until yellow, do not burn). Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, washed with wine).

If blood heat, add Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi) 8 liang. Grind together into powder, make pills with honey. Take on an empty stomach with clear soup/water.
