Chen Feixia stated: Infants may suffer from falls or cuts by knives and axes, allowing wind pathogens to secretly invade. Swelling occurs at the injury site, which is termed "Po Shang Feng" (Broken Injury Wind / Tetanus). It should be treated promptly; otherwise, spasms (Jing) will develop.
Internally administer Shufeng Huoxue San (Wind-Dispersing and Blood-Activating Powder), and externally apply Zijin Ding (Purple Gold锭/Plaster).
Shufeng Huoxue San treats infant tetanus, whether spasms have already occurred or not.

The *Classic* states: All pain, itching, sores, and ulcers belong to Heart Fire. Chen Feixia said: Among all sores, itching, boils, and scabies in the world, infants suffer most frequently. Is it because their tender yang and pure qi are easily attacked by the fire of the annual cycle? Or is it due to their ignorance, leading to improper regulation of cold and warmth? Furthermore, there is residual toxicity from parents that becomes a lifelong harm to the child. How can this be left untreated? When infants are first born, if they have widespread insect-like scabies or weeping sores, these are all fetal toxins. Do not use external treatments; internally administer Huma Wan (Hemp Seed Pill). If one mistakenly uses topical washes, it forces the toxin into the abdomen, causing abdominal distension, which is a critical condition. In such cases, urgently administering Jiedu Tang (Detoxification Decoction) is best. For any sores on the head, face, or body that were not previously washed but suddenly flatten out, accompanied by increased phlegm, wheezing, and rapid breathing, do not use purgatives. Instead, use Lianqiao Wan (Forsythia Pill) to resolve the exterior and expel the toxin. For infants under one year old, regardless of the type of sore or scabies, topical washing is contraindicated. The primary treatment should always be Huma Wan, which is very safe. For infant carbuncles, toxic swellings, and boils, which result from blood and qi stagnation exacerbated by heat and fire, internally administer Dabu Tang (Great Tonifying Decoction) and externally apply Zijin Ding. For swollen lymph nodes in the neck that are about to cause fever, internally administer Huma Wan and externally apply Wubeizi powder mixed with vinegar and water, changing the application twice daily for optimal effect.

Bone-Setting Formula
Tu Weisheng said: Infants love to climb high while carrying objects, so falls and fractures are common. Although medical texts contain many bone-setting methods, they are either expensive and hard to obtain or obscure folk remedies difficult to identify in emergencies. Finding a method that is simple, easy to identify, stable, and highly effective is not easy. While I was in Zhengyang, a Mr. Song offered a bone-setting elixir, sought after by people from near and far for its remarkable efficacy. However, he kept the formula secret and refused to share it. Through persistent inquiry, I learned the formula consists of Guoyan (soot from cooking pots, also known as Baicaoshuang) and brick ash. I deeply regret this unconscious secrecy in China, which hinders medical progress and denies benefits to the public. I record this method here to pioneer for the public and physicians. The method distinguishes between incomplete and complete fractures. For incomplete fractures, use finely ground and sifted brick ash (preferably from kiln doors exposed to fire) and soot. Dosage is one fen per year of age for each ingredient, taken with yellow wine to induce sweating. For complete fractures, add one flower spider per year of age, taken together with brick ash and soot in yellow wine. If the fracture occurred a day prior, first take Quan Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) at one fen per year of age in yellow wine, then take the soot and brick ash, and the bone will naturally knit.
Formula for Mad Dog Bites
Tu Weisheng said: The poison of mad dogs is the most severe, and bites are particularly dangerous. Many suffer from this. Without a good formula, practitioners often advocate "using poison to treat poison," which is not a mild or safe approach. I obtained a method using Renshen Baidu San (Ginseng Detoxification Powder) added with Diyü (Sanguisorbae Radix) and Zizhugen (Bamboo Root). I have tested it repeatedly with results as immediate as striking a drum. It is indeed a precious treatment.
Renshen Baidu San Added with Diyü and Zizhugen
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) Qianhu (Peucedani Radix) Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Fuling (Poria) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) Diyü (Sanguisorbae Radix) Zizhugen (Bamboo Root)
Tu Weisheng said: If Zizhugen is unavailable, other bamboo roots can be used in larger quantities. After taking this, there is no pain, hematochezia, or hematuria, nor are there taboos against wind, crossing rivers, or eating dog meat. This is truly a mild treatment; readers must not ignore it.
Formula for Scorpion Bites
Take peach blossoms from domestic trees, or crush them with leaves to extract juice, and apply to the painful area for immediate relief. Domestic peach trees are also called trellis peaches.
Formula for Arsenic Poisoning
Take fresh leaves and tender branches of Ficus pumila (Bìlì, commonly known as creeping fig), crush and grind to extract juice, and drink generously for self-healing. Ficus pumila is commonly known as creeping fig, a vine with large clustered leaves. Alternatively, use 4 liang of Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) mixed well water for oral administration to detoxify arsenic. This is a formula from *Yuewei Caotang Biji*. I have not tested it myself but keep it for reference.
Formula for Opium Poisoning
Take 3 qian of Grey Mengyang (a Western medicine). Dissolve in Yin-Yang water (mixed hot and cold water), administer orally, and shake until vomiting occurs, leading to recovery. Another method is to administer Borax (Pengsha), which is also highly effective.
Formula for Ingesting Gold
Take 1-2 earthworms (Qilao), crush and grind, and administer orally. The gold will dissolve naturally and will not kill the person. Earthworms are found under chicken coops and in fertile soil.
Formula for Snake Bites
Take Chonglou (Paris polyphylla, also known as Seven-Leaf-One-Flower), grind with vinegar, and apply to the wound for immediate pain relief. Chonglou must be authentic, otherwise it is ineffective. Additionally, while in Zhengyang, I treated a snake bite victim by internally administering 5 qian of Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung), 3 qian of Xionghuang (Realgar), and 3 qian of Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), mixed with water. Externally applied iodine tincture. Pain stopped immediately. I do not know who cured these two cases, so I record them for reference.
Formula for Salt Poisoning
Excessive salt intake causes blood vessel stagnation and can be fatal. Drink plenty of soy milk (not coagulated with gypsum) to detoxify.
Formula for Ingesting Needles
Take the black skin of charcoal, grind into a fine powder, and ingest. The needle will be wrapped by the charcoal powder and pass out through the stool.
