Roasted Frankincense (Zhi Ruxiang), Roasted Myrrh (Zhi Moyao), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi), Red Halloysite (Chishizhi), Catechu (Ercha), Dragon Bone (Longgu), Cat Skull (Maotougu), and Chinese Gallnut (Wubeizi) (each one qian). Grind all into a fine powder together.
Dragon Bone, Frankincense, Myrrh, Bletilla Striata (Baiji), Ampelopsis Japonica (Bailian), Clam Shell (Wenhe), Coptis Chinensis (Huanglian), Phellodendron Amurense (Huangbai) (each three qian), and Musk (Shexiang) (a small amount). Mix with human milk for external application. First, apply an analgesic to the defect area for one quarter-hour. Then, use bamboo splints to clamp both sides of the defect edge. Use a sharp knife to shave off the thin skin. Fix two embroidery needles vertically aligned and tied securely, then bind tightly with thread. Apply Shengji San externally. After three or four days, the flesh will grow firmly. Remove the needles, sprinkle medicine into the needle holes, and it will heal completely. For fresh wounds, there is no need to use analgesics to remove skin; applying medicine according to this method will yield immediate results.
Knife wounds may appear easy but are actually difficult to treat. Tendon rupture with abdominal laceration, where skin remains connected but bone is fractured, foreign bodies penetrating the bone, or arrowheads broken within the flesh. Or wind-pathogen invasion after trauma. Such conditions require skilled practitioners. For long skin lacerations, use fine needles to slowly approximate the new edges of the torn skin, secure them with needles, and apply medicine internally and externally. Do not cover with plaster, lest stagnant blood turn to pus and rotting flesh fail to granulate. If dryness and pain occur, wipe with pig fat or sesame oil. For abdominal rupture with evisceration, have the patient lie flat in a draft-free place. First, apply oil around the wound margins, then gently push the intestines back into the abdomen. Suture the skin using medicinal thread, then apply dressing. For three days, do not turn or move; wait until the medicinal qi circulates and pain subsides. For arrowheads lodged in bone or flesh, administer analgesics to render the patient insensible to pain, so they can be extracted with forceps. If small splinters cannot be removed, apply Heibao San externally, and they will emerge. For injured finger joints or articular bones that are dislocated, or accompanied by skin flexion, realignment must be performed at the time of injury. If left until ulceration occurs, reduction is impossible. Dressings and bandaging must be meticulous to avoid adhesion and subsequent suppuration. For elderly patients who are weak and emaciated and cannot endure pain, saving life is paramount; reduction surgery is not mandatory. For head injuries, or injuries at points where tendons and vessels connect, bleeding will be profuse; prepare hemostatic medicines in advance. Upon inspection, if fragments of bone or hair are found inside, they must be completely removed, and the wound quickly dressed. Cover with Yuzhen San to protect against wind-pathogen. For necrotic tissue, use astringent medicines until the muscle fills the defect without forming a scab. If there are small pores in the muscle with persistent purulent discharge, it indicates retained foreign bodies such as bone fragments, thorns, or hair hidden in the new granulation tissue. Insert Wujin Gao or Sanpin Ding; upon ulceration exposing healthy tissue, carefully inspect and remove the foreign body to allow healing and scabbing. This method is also used for carbuncles or internal abscesses. For severed throat injuries involving the inner pharynx, where food and drink cannot be swallowed, treatment is difficult. First, sprinkle Xuejie powder around the inner pharynx, ensuring it does not enter the trachea. Suture the outer skin with mulberry thread, apply Fengliu San, and cover with a layer of Buxue Gao. Seal the surroundings tightly to prevent air leakage. Administer Shenzhu Yin internally to restore Yuan Qi. Also administer medicines to clear heat and regulate blood and qi; recovery will naturally follow.
