(Attached: Palpitations, Insomnia, and Night Sweats)
[Bone-steaming Tidal Fever] *Gudupi* (Cortex Lycii Radicis, 1 liang), *Xiaoqingcao* (Herba Lysimachiae, 3 qian), *Liuyuexue* (Herba Ilicis Cornutae, 5 qian), *Huhuanglian* (Rhizoma Coptidis, 1 qian), *Yiyiren* (Semen Coicis, 3 qian), *Chaihu* (Radix Bupleuri, 2 qian). Take two tender chickens (approx. 1 jin, black-boned chickens are preferred). Slaughter with a copper knife and wash with white wine. Stuff the herbs inside the chicken cavity, sew up with thread. Place in a bowl with a small amount of wine and water, steam until cooked, and eat. Stir-fry the chicken bones and remaining herbs until dry, grind into powder, and make pills with refined honey the size of paulownia seeds. Take 3 qian at Si (9-11 AM) and Shen (3-5 PM) hours, washed down with plain boiled water. Effective after several doses. *Qinghaozi* (Seeds of Artemisia annua, with leaves, stems removed, approx. 1 dou), add 3 sheng of water and 5 sheng of child's urine. Decoct to 1.5 sheng, strain. (Simmer slowly over low heat to form a paste, preserve with powdered licorice root). Take 5 tea spoons mixed with plain boiled water on an empty stomach for best effect.
[Cough and Hemoptysis due to Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries] *Bajili* (Fructus Tribuli, 2 jin, stir-fried and thorns removed, ground), *Gouqizi* (Fructus Lycii, 1 jin, slow-fired), *Heizhima* (Sesamum indicum seeds, 2 jin, fried thoroughly and ground), *Niuguisu* (Ossis Bovis Medullae, 2 jin, melted and strained), *Baimi* (Mellis, 2 jin, refined and strained). Mix the powders of the first three herbs with bone marrow and honey evenly. Place in a porcelain basin and steam in a pot until cooked. Form pills the size of marbles. Eat as desired, washed down with plain boiled water; very effective.
[Qi Deficiency and Blood Weakness with Reduced Appetite] *Lianzirou* (Semen Nelumbinis, any quantity, peeled and soaked in wine overnight). Place inside a pig's stomach, boil until soft, mash into a paste, bake until dry, and grind into powder. Make pills with wine paste the size of paulownia seeds. Take 100 pills per dose, washed down with plain boiled water.
[Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction)] Treats internal injury to primordial qi caused by labor and heavy lifting, or insufficient middle qi leading to fatigue and poor appetite. Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng), Zhi Huangqi (Fried Radix Astragali), Tu Chao Baizhu (Earth-stir-fried Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Zhi Gancao (Fried Radix Glycyrrhizae) (each 1.5 qian), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 1 qian), Guangpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 0.5 fen), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) (each 0.3 fen). Add ginger and jujube, decoct in water, and take on an empty stomach.
[Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia)] Treats kidney qi deficiency, chronic emaciation, night sweats, tidal fever, thinness with irritability and heat, hemoptysis, and hematochezia/melena. Most people have a yin-deficient constitution (80-90%). It is advisable to take this regularly after middle age. Shudi (Prepared Radix Rehmanniae, 8 liang), Shanyurou (Fructus Corni, 4 liang), Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae, 4 liang), Fuling (Poria, 3 liang), Danpi (Cortex Moutan, 3 liang), Zexie (Radix Alismatis, 3 liang). Grind into powder, make pills with honey. Take 3 qian per dose, washed down with plain boiled water.
[Mianhua Zi Wan (Cottonseed Pill)] Long-term use darkens hair and beard, warms waist and kidneys, treats impotence and weakness, promotes fertility, suitable for yang deficiency. Mianhua Zi (Cottonseeds, several jin, scalded with boiling water, placed in a hemp bag, steamed for one incense stick duration, sun-dried until cracked, kernels taken, coats removed, net weight 3 jin, pressed to remove oil, soaked in wine overnight, steamed for three incense stick durations, sun-dried), Poguzhi (Fructus Psoraleae, 1 jin, soaked in salt water overnight, stir-fried), Gouqizi (Fructus Lycii, 1 jin, soaked in wine, steamed, sun-dried), Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae, 1 jin, stir-fried with ginger juice to remove fibers), Tusizi (Semen Cuscutae, 1 jin, boiled in wine, stir-fried until dry). All ground into powder, made into pills with honey (paulownia seed size, take 3 qian per dose, washed down with plain boiled water).
[Huma Wan (Sesame Pill)] One dou of black sesame seeds, mixed with wine, subjected to nine steamings and nine sun-dryings. Remove skins with hot water, stir-fry until fragrant, pound into powder. Make pills with refined honey (marble size). Take 1-2 pills on an empty stomach daily. Tonifies deficiency and emaciation, moistens lungs and bowels, benefits spirit, treats all diseases, expels wind. After three years of use, white hair turns black. Black corresponds to the Kidney entering the Kidney system; steaming removes its cold and slippery nature.
[Dongguaren Wan (Winter Melon Seed Pill)] Treats five labors and seven injuries in men, tonifies liver and brightens eyes. Two sheng of old winter melon seeds, placed in a silk bag, dipped in boiling water three times briefly each time, then sun-dried. Soak in vinegar for two nights, sun-dry, and grind into powder. Form pills with water. Take 3 qian per dose, washed down with plain boiled water. Long-term use beautifies complexion and prolongs life. (Note: Materia Medica praises its mild nature and miraculous efficacy.)
[Tuberculosis/Lao Disease] Regardless of gender, use fresh abomasa of young lambs, baked dry in a clay pot, ground into powder, taken with light wine. Chew pickled eel bones finely to drive out tuberculosis worms. Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae, 1 jin), Gansong (Nardostachyos Radix et Rhizoma, 6 liang), ground into powder, mixed with 1 jin of refined honey. Seal in a jar, bury underground for ten days. Add 6 liang of charcoal powder, bury for another five days. Take out and burn; inhaling the smoke frequently cures the disease naturally. Can also be used to fumigate clothes and bedding. Eat porridge made with chestnuts or lamb kidneys to strongly tonify kidneys and benefit waist and legs. Eat porridge made with Euryale seeds to consolidate essence and qi, and brighten ears and eyes.
[Wuxu Zhongzi Wan (Darken Beard and Promote Seed Pill)] Treats male infertility due to seminal emptiness and insufficiency of kidney water. Yupiao (Bladder of Fish, 1 jin, stir-fried with clam powder until pearl-like and very charred, not raw). All ground into powder, made into pills with wine paste (paulownia seed size). Take 3 qian per dose, washed down with plain boiled water on an empty stomach.
[Transmitted Tuberculosis/Chuan Shi Lao] For those whose qi and blood are not severely depleted, no need for multiple prescriptions. Taking this early prevents the worms from causing harm; all cases heal. This prescription was transmitted divinely; its merit in saving lives cannot be fully described. Chuanjiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli, 2 jin, processed as before, ground), decoct rice flour in wine to make a paste for pills. Take 30 pills per dose, gradually...
[Fanben Wan (Return to Origin Pill)] Tonifies various deficiencies and hundred damages. Huangniurou (Yellow beef, remove fascia, slice, soak in water overnight, wash 2-3 times, place in clay jar with non-ash wine, seal with salt mud, simmer gently for a day and night. Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae, stir-fried in salt water), Bai Fuling (Poria, stir-fried), Xiaohuixiang (Fructus Foeniculi, stir-fried), Lianrou (Semen Nelumbinis, stir-fried in salt water) (each 4 liang). Grind into fine powder and mix evenly. Boil red dates in wine (remove skin and pits), pound together with the powder to form pills. Take 3 qian per dose, washed down with light wine.
[Palpitations] Symptom: feeling as if someone is trying to catch the heart. Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Fuling (Poria) (each 3 qian), Zhi Banxia (Processed Rhizoma Pinelliae) (2 qian). Decoct in water and take. Long-term use prevents recurrence.
[Tianwang Buxin Wan (Emperor of Heaven's Heart-Nourishing Pill)] Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae), Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) (wine-washed, each 1 liang), Shengdi (Radix Rehmanniae), Guishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (wine-washed, each 2 liang), Tiandong (Radix Asparagi), Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis) (remove hearts), Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae) (remove woody core, soak in licorice water), Baiziren (Semen Platycladi) (remove oil), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis), Zaoren (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae) (shell removed, stir-fried until black), Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae) (stir-fried with ginger juice), Sheng Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (each 1 liang), Bai Fushen (Poria cum Radix Pini, 2 liang), Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae), Baibu (Radix Stemonae), Shichangpu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii) (each 5 qian). All ground into powder, made into pills with honey (...prevents forgetting).
[Insomnia] Decoct Dengcao (Junci Medulla) in water and drink as tea to induce sleep. (After dusk daily, do not drink tea, do not speak much, rest quietly.) Alternatively, use Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Yuanzhi Rou (Medulla Radicis Polygalae) (each 1 qian), Bai Fushen (Poria cum Radix Pini, 1.5 qian), Zaoren (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae) (stir-fried black), Zhi Biejia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis) (each 3 qian). Decoct in water and take.
[Night Sweats] Sweating during sleep is called "stealing" sweat, indicating yin deficiency. Lianzi (Semen Nelumbinis, 7 grains), Heizao (Fructus Jujubae, 7 pieces), Fu Xiao Mai (Frumentum Levisticum, 1 he), Maliaodou (Sojae Semen Nigrum prepared specially, 1 he). Decoct in water, take three times to cure. Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis) ground fine, mixed with saliva, applied to the umbilicus, wrapped with silk cloth; stops after one night. For post-illness body weakness, use Huangqi (Radix Astragali, 6 liang), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 1 liang). Honey-fry each several times to remove fire toxicity. Use 1 liang per dose, decoct in water and take.
[Spontaneous Sweating] Sweating after illness due to body weakness indicates yang deficiency. Mahuanggen (Radix Ephedrae) and Huangqi (Radix Astragali) in equal parts, ground into powder. Make pills with fine wheat flour paste, paulownia seed size. Take 100 pills per dose, washed down with Fu Xiao Mai soup. Decoct Sangye (Folium Mori) that has endured frost to stop sweating. Eating fresh Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae) stops it spontaneously. Take one sheet of tofu skin from black tofu milk, eat with one bowl of tofu milk every morning to stop sweating. Zhi Huangqi (Fried Radix Astragali) and Xiaoheidou (Black Soybeans) in equal parts, decoct and take; cured in half a month. Treats all types of sweating. Any deficiency damage caused by excessive labor is easy to treat with nourishing medicine and food. If caused by emotional extremes, seven emotions, or six desires, medicine accounts for only 30% of the effect; only quiet cultivation can reverse the condition. Forget worldly affairs, reside in a peaceful place, clear the mind and reduce desires, eliminate selfish thoughts of wine, lust, wealth, and status. Rise immediately upon waking in the morning (sleeping again leads to mental scattering and confusion). Forget self and objects, calm the spirit and sit quietly. If delusive thoughts arise, walk slowly and examine them: why did they arise? How to stop them? Discard thoughts harmful to body and mind. Sit when still, walk when moving (this is the Daoist practice of returning light). Walk for the duration of one incense stick, then rest and repeat. Eventually, mind and breath will rely on each other, breathing becomes natural. While sitting, generate saliva with the mouth; this is the key to the human body. (This refers to focusing spirit between the eyes at eye level, keeping mind inward, eyes unmoving.) Reflect carefully: if you do not sit quietly for a day, where does this light flow end? If you can sit quietly for a moment, through countless kalpas and lifetimes, clarity is achieved; all dharmas return to true stillness, inconceivable, this is the profound truth. However, practice starts shallow and goes deep, coarse to fine, always aiming for continuity. The method remains consistent throughout. (By practicing this, one can transcend the ordinary and enter the Dao, not just cure disease.) Whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, keep the spirit calm and inward. Practice for half a month for miraculous results. With good aspirations assisting, immortality may be approached. Relying on strange medicines or holding breath against qi is not only useless but harmful.
