(Attached: Metal Wounds, Tetanus, Clubbing Injuries, Scalds and Burns)
[General Discussion] For all fracture and injury conditions, whether caused by falls, impacts from wood or stone, weapons, or scalds and burns, the symptoms vary. One must absolutely avoid drinking cold water, as blood coagulates when exposed to cold, often leading to untreatable conditions. Exercise caution. Even if thirsty, resolve thirst by consuming warm, rich, and fatty foods; do not eat congee (rice porridge), lest it cause the blood to boil and extravasate, rendering it untreatable.
[Falls from Height] Whether crushed by wood or stone, or fallen from a cart or horse, causing all types of injuries with stagnant blood and near-death states due to qi exhaustion, if no medicine is available at the moment, pry open the mouth and pour in hot urine to restore consciousness. Then, take five sheng of clean soil, steam it until hot, wrap it heavily in old cloth to make two packs, and apply them alternately to the injured area with heat. Do not let it be too hot to avoid damaging broken flesh. Stop when the pain ceases; this is miraculously effective. If the skin is broken and bleeding does not stop, cover the wound with worn silk floss (the older, the better). Cut it slightly larger than the wound and paste it on. Alternatively, burn the silk floss (regardless of age) into ash, grind it finely, wait for it to cool, and apply it to protect the wound; it will stop bleeding immediately. (If silk floss is unavailable, mix dry flour with fresh ginger juice, mash well, and apply to the injury; it can also stop bleeding and relieve pain.) Or, prepare the following Metal Wound Powder in advance for better application. Alternatively, scrape white beeswax into fine powder and apply it to the wound. Regardless of size, wrap it well to avoid exposure to wind. It should heal after seven days. If excessive bleeding leads to lethargy and unconsciousness, decoct three to five qian of Ren Shen (Ginseng Root) in water and administer it. After regaining consciousness, cook the dregs of the ginseng with white rice and consume them. (For those with heavy bleeding, a deep and fine pulse indicates survival, while a floating and large pulse indicates death.) If the wound is not cared for properly, an abscess may form after five to seven days. In such cases, use the Five Immortals Powder from surgical treatments to promote healing.
[Crush Injuries] If someone is crushed to death but the heart remains warm, position them sitting cross-legged like a monk meditating. Have one person hold their hair slightly lowered, then blow Ban Xia Rhizome powder into their nose to restore consciousness. After waking, administer a mixture of fresh ginger juice and pure sesame oil. Then, take a small amount of goat blood, mix it with wine, and ingest it. (If goat blood is unavailable, burn dried lotus leaves to ash, mix with child's urine, and ingest three qian; taking this three times a day will lead to self-healing.) Alternatively, use four liang of black fungus (burn to ash, grind extremely fine to remove fire toxicity), mix with good aged wine, and ingest two qian twice a day. This is a miraculous remedy for removing stasis and generating new tissue, and stopping dizziness. For traumatic injuries causing qi exhaustion and inability to speak... [Text fragment].
[Blood Stasis Distending Pain] For abdominal pain caused by blood stasis from all types of falls, crushes, or drops, use Da Huang Rhubarb Root and Tuber (stir-fried with wine) and Dang Gui Angelicae Sinensis Radix (stir-fried with wine) in equal parts, grind into powder. Take two to five qian per dose (adjust based on severity of stasis), mixed with wine on an empty stomach in the morning. Self-healing occurs when black material is passed in stool. If pain is unbearable, add Tao Ren Peach Seed (twenty-one kernels, peeled and pitted) and increase Da Huang Rhubarb Root to seven or eight qian. For blood stasis attacking the heart causing distension, pain, and rapid breathing, use Qing Ma Ye Cannabis Leaf (including roots), mash and extract juice, and take warm. (If leaves are unavailable, use hemp seeds mashed with wine as a substitute.) Use Zhu Qing Bamboo Green Skin and Luan Fa Human Hair (one handful each), roast over charcoal until charred, grind into powder. Add one jin of wine, boil for three to five boils, strain, and drink. For those with weak constitutions who cannot tolerate Da Huang Rhubarb Root, use one bowl of Sheng Di Rehmanniae Radix juice mixed with half a bowl of good wine, take warm three times to cure. (After any fall or injury, if there is constipation, wheezing, coughing, or hemoptysis, this formula is effective. A wiry pulse indicates survival; a fine pulse indicates death.)
[Fall and Blow Pain] For traumatic injuries without external bleeding and internal pain, use Yan Hu Suo Corydalis Rhizome (stir-fried with salt water and ground). Take two qian per dose, twice daily, taken with good aged wine. Alternatively, use Ru Xiang Frankincense and Mo Yao Myrrh (roasted on bamboo leaf to remove oil, then ground fine). Take one to two qian per dose, mixed with wine. These are excellent analgesics. For external use, use Cong Bai Scallion Stem (any amount), mash, stir-fry until hot, and apply to the injury. Replace when cool; it stops pain magically. Regardless of whether bleeding has occurred, applying it covers the wound and is the premier remedy for stopping pain and bleeding. Mash fresh Shan Yao Chinese Yam and live Crucian Carp together, apply to the injury, and pain stops immediately. For chronic swelling and pain from old injuries, use Sheng Jiang Fresh Ginger and Chen Xiang Zao Aged Fermented Rice Wine Lees (one jin each), mash together, stir-fry hot, and apply. (If not treated urgently, after one year, it may develop into a condition resembling a winter melon cluster, which is untreatable.)
[Purple-Black Scars with Unresolved Blood] Apply Da Huang Rhubarb Root powder mixed with fresh ginger juice. Black discoloration turns purple after one night, and purple turns white after two nights.
[Blue-Black Swelling from Falls] Apply slices of freshly made hot tofu, about one finger thick, to the injured area. Replace when cool; repeated applications reduce swelling. Mash Feng Xian Hua Garden Balsam Flower leaves into a paste and apply to swollen areas. Reapply when dry; blood disperses and efficacy is seen overnight. For generalized blue-black swelling, drink cooked Sesame Oil mixed with wine, then lie on the ground heated by fire. Discomfort signals that swelling and pain have completely subsided.
[Hemoptysis from Falling] Dry He Hua Lotus Flower, grind into powder. Take two to three qian per dose, mixed with good wine.
[Fractures and Dislocations from Falls] Whether bone fractures, comminuted fractures, or dislocations, grind Bai Feng Xian Root White Balsam Root in wine and ingest half cun. The injured area becomes insensible to pain. (For severe cases, ingest one cun; excessive intake is harmful, so one cun is the maximum.) Alternatively, mash Mo Li Hua Jasmine Flower root and apply externally to stop pain immediately. (This root must not be ingested.) Promptly set the fractured bone. For dislocations, manipulate and push back into place. Externally, use one rooster, Gu Pi Cortex Lycii Radicis and Wu Jia Pi Cortex Acanthopanacis (four liang each; fresh is preferred, otherwise use dried and ground fine). Mash together with the chicken including feathers, apply thickly to the injury, and bind with Shan Mu Pi Cedar Bark (preferably peeled from a living tree, as its resin nourishes skin and flesh). Then, mash one to two jin of raw crab, cook with good aged wine, strain, and drink several bowls. (The residue can also be applied externally. Non-drinkers should sip slowly according to tolerance.) After half a day, the injured bones will make rustling sounds and knit together. Full union occurs within one week. Bricks or tiles from street urinals (preferably those exposed to sunlight for years and stained with urine; do not use new ones) should be cleaned, heated red in fire, quenched in vinegar, cooled, and reheated. Repeat this five to seven times, grind into fine powder, and take two to three qian mixed with wine. Alternatively, take a brick from a long-abandoned outdoor pit, treat similarly with fire-quenching in vinegar five to seven times, grind extremely fine, and take five fen mixed with good wine. These two remedies are highly effective for treating injuries, knitting fractures, and relieving pain. Taking them before trauma prevents pain; do not overdose as it may soften bones.
[Bone Knitting Formula] Tu Bie Chong Ground Beetle (remove feet, bake with two pieces of raw Ban Xia Rhizome until dry, discard Ban Xia, keep one qian), Ru Xiang Frankincense, Mo Yao Myrrh (roast on tile to remove oil, grind), Zi Ran Tong Pyritum (calcine and quench in vinegar seven times), Gu Sui Bu Drynaniae Rhizome (remove hairs, bake), Dang Gui Wei Angelicae Sinensis Radix Tail, Peng Sha Borax (one qian each). Grind all extremely fine, mix evenly, and store in a porcelain jar. Treats all traumatic injuries. Take eight li per dose with good wine. Tu Bie Choung Ground Beetle (bake between paper in a clay pot until dry, six qian net powder), Zi Ran Tong Pyritum (calcine and quench in vinegar seven times, two liang net powder). Mix evenly, take two qian per dose with warm wine. Treats all traumatic injuries to tendons and bones. Take once daily for self-healing. (Take after meals for upper body ailments, before meals for lower body ailments.) Zi Ran Tong Pyritum is excellent for knitting bones; however, lifelong avoidance of Bai Qi White Shepherd's Purse is required after healing. For all traumatic injuries, follow the formula. For those with weak constitutions, additionally take Ren Shen Ginseng Root (one qian), Bai Atractylodis Rhizoma (soil-stir-fried), Zhi Huang Qi Astragali Radix (roasted), Dang Gui Angelicae Sinensis Radix (two to three qian each), Bai Zhi Saposhnikoviae Radix (one qian), Chuan Xiong Ligustici Rhizoma, Hou Po Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, Gan Cao Glycyrrhizae Radix (five to seven fen each). One dose daily assists qi and blood for self-healing.
[Head, Shoulder, and Bone Fractures] Mash Cong Bai Scallion Stem with honey, apply thickly to the injury. Roast Crab Shell on a tile until charred, grind fine, mix with wine, and drink as much as possible; the bone will knit itself.
[Eye Injury from Blows] Place a thin slice of raw pork on the eye. Sprinkle with Dang Gui Angelicae Sinensis Radix (roasted and ground) and Chi Shi Zhi Red Halloysite (ground fine). Replace when dry. Draws out toxic blood for self-healing.
[Preparation of Ground Beetles] Collect over one hundred large Tu Bie Choung Ground Beetles from rice or wine warehouses. Keep them in a large vat for three days to remove dirt. Transfer to a large wine jar covered with thin cloth. Feed them Hong Hua Safflower soaked in wine (eight liang). Let them consume it, then allow cannibalism among them. Retain ten individuals, place in a small clay jar, seal with mud, and simmer slowly for four and a half incense sticks' worth of time, then reverse and simmer for another two and a half incense sticks' worth. Do not burn. Remove, place on a stone, and leave for three days. Store in a porcelain jar. For tendon and bone injuries, grind one beetle fine (mix with one or two ancient coins ground in wine for external application). For severe fractures, set the injury first, then take three fen of Tu Bie Chong Ground Beetle mixed with good wine. (Use half for lower body ailments, whole for upper; combine with Ru Xiang Frankincense, Mo Yao Myrrh, Xiang Fu Cyperi Rhizoma, and Zi Ran Tong Pyritum for better effect.) Extremely effective for bone knitting; results seen in one to two days. Prepare to help others. For hemiplegia or chronic stubborn diseases where medicinal power cannot reach, combine this with other medicines to reach the disease site directly and eliminate chronic conditions. (Use left side for left-sided ailments, right for right.)
[Metal Wound Formula] Metal wounds refer to injuries from knives, axes, or arrowheads. (If eyes stare straight after injury, pain is not at the wound site, blood turns black after being red, or the painful area is cold and hard, these are untreatable.) For all open bleeding wounds, immediately pour warm child's urine over the wound to facilitate healing. Strictly avoid cold drinks and wind exposure to prevent pathogenic wind invasion. Avoid congee; consume child's urine and Chinese chive juice. When thirsty, eat rich and fatty foods. Zi Jiang Xiang Purple Rosewood Heartwood (finely chopped and ground, or ash), Yuan Yan Longan Fruit (with shell, flesh, and seed, calcined to retain nature), grind fine and mix, apply to wound to stop bleeding without sequelae. (This is the premier formula for military campaigns.) Qian Nian Duan Shi Hematite Ore (extremely fine powder) mixed with Da Huang Rhubarb Root (sliced), boiled until soft, dried, and ground fine. Apply to ulcer to stop bleeding magically. (If Qian Nian Duan Shi is unavailable, use six liang of aged weathered hematite ore and ten liang of Da Huang Rhubarb Root slices, stir-fry in a clay pot until peach-blossom colored, remove, grind fine; efficacy is the same.) Xue Jie Dragon's Blood resin powder sprinkled stops bleeding and generates flesh. Ru Xiang Frankincense (five fen), Mo Yao Myrrh (three fen), grind fine and sprinkle; a miraculous remedy for stopping bleeding and pain. In winter, take one ox gallbladder, insert weathered hematite ore, hang in a windy place until dry. Scrape fine powder and apply for uncontrollable bleeding. For persistent bleeding, dip aged Perilla Leaf in the blood, mash, and apply; it prevents suppuration and leaves no scars. Alternatively, burn fetal hair to ash, grind fine, and apply to stop bleeding immediately. Bat (one, calcined until smoke disappears, ground), take three qian mixed with wine; bleeding stops immediately, swelling and pain subside. This is a unique formula. Alternatively, consume male chicken blood mixed with wine for similar effect. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, collect wild Ramie Leaf, mix with calcined weathered hematite ore, mash, dry in shade, grind fine, and apply to stop bleeding magically. (Using Chinese chive with roots yields similar results.) In autumn, collect Loofah Leaf (dry, remove veins, grind fine). Take eight liang of powder, add two liang of Qian Nian Duan Shi Hematite Ore [calcined and ground; if not ancient, aged is acceptable, calcined until dry], mix evenly, and apply to stop bleeding magically. The above formulas stop bleeding and resolve stasis, leaving no sequelae. Prepare for emergencies and share with colleagues.
