One: The front of this book previously bore the name Ye Tianshi. It has now been specifically removed.
One: This book discusses syndrome differentiation and treatment methods, strictly adhering to ancient teachings, with absolutely no speculative theories or superficial talk. Contemporary methods are listed first, followed by the methods of Master Zhong (Zhang Zhongjing), reflecting the intention of progressing from shallow to deep.
One: Block-printed books such as *Wanbing Huichun* (Ten Thousand Diseases Return to Spring), *Song Zunsheng*, *Gujin Yitong*, and *Dongui Bogam* (Eastern Medical Treasure Mirror) list diseases and symptoms in detail; however, when consulted during clinical practice, they rarely match the actual cases. Even where there is some correspondence, they often fail to produce effective results. This is because they pursue the branches while forgetting the root. Observe *Neijing* (The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), *Nanjing* (The Classic of Difficult Issues), *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases), and *Jingui Yaolue* (Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet): for each symptom, only a few words are used, yet they encompass everything. Thus, it can be known that the value of stating principles lies in grasping the essentials. This book does not omit conditions such as palpitations (*Zhengchong*), headache (*Toutong*), and joint pain (*Lijie*). For palpitations, one should seek the cause in consumptive disease (*Xulao*); for headaches, if caused by pathogenic factors, one should refer to *Shanghan Lun*; if not caused by pathogens, one should refer to vertigo (*Xuan Yun*). For consumptive disease and joint pain, one should investigate whether they belong to wind, dampness, or deficiency, and treat accordingly. This embodies flexible application of methods. The foundation of learning medicine lies in entering the gate correctly. If the entry is correct, the entire process will be correct; if the entry is wrong, the entire process will be wrong. This book clarifies the sacred methods to serve as a standard for beginners. Its value does not lie in exhaustive detail. If one grasps the secret essence, exhaustiveness is naturally achieved. There are symptoms presented here but treatments detailed elsewhere; there are discussions of one symptom combined with another; there are discussions of other symptoms that do not explicitly mention this symptom but serve as the golden needle (key solution) for it. In reality, there is no other secret except familiarity. Familiarity breeds skill, leading naturally to the wonder of handling situations with ease and versatility.
All formulas listed in the discussion are included in Volumes 3 and 4 without omission. However, the formulas from *Shanghan Lun* and *Jingui Yaolue* cannot be fully understood without thoroughly reading the original texts. Occasionally, this book omits certain formulas intentionally, hoping that readers will seek their profound meanings in the original texts. Omission is intended as guidance. Readers should appreciate my earnest intentions.
Following each formula is a commentary, either citing previous authorities or recording personal insights, which appears more concise compared to other books. Readers will know this themselves.

To treat sallow complexion, faint voice, weakness in the four limbs, and a weak pulse: if there is internal heat or difficulty in digesting food leading to sour regurgitation, this belongs to deficient fire. Dried Ginger (*Ganjiang*) must be added.
