有续绝补髓之功。专调斫丧之阳。分理溃乱之精。故治元阳虚惫。而为遗浊带下者。若治肺

陈修园曰简

陈修园曰甘草黑豆。能解诸毒。毒解则撮痛除。赤白已。毒瓦斯不冲于胃口。而噤口之病
亦宁。又用地榆以燥在下之湿。芍药以泄在下之热。是正佐法。干姜之大辛大温。以开在上
之拒格。是反佐法。又用罂粟壳以止剧痛。制以白蜜之滑。以变其涩。是。巧。佐。法。鸦
片是罂粟之膏脂入土者制造而成。名为阿芙蓉。今人吃其烟。多受其害。若以一二厘入药。
止心腹之痛如神。所以取效倍于他药也。
Treats the exhaustion of primal yang (Yuan Yang). Seminal emission with slippery discharge, white turbidity. Nocturnal enuresis. As well as long-standing coldness in the Blood Sea (Chong and Ren meridians) in women. Symptoms such as excessive leukorrhea, nocturnal emission, and seminal leakage.
The Wei Xi Wan (Miraculous Joy Pill), transmitted from the Bureau of Harmonized Prescriptions, calms nocturnal emission, leukorrhea, and white turbidity when taken. Boil Poria, dry it in the sun, and mix it with beeswax. It specifically treats coldness in the Blood Sea caused by yang deficiency. (Take four taels of peeled Bai Fuling [Poria], cut into pieces. Use two qian five fen of Zhu Ling [Polyporus], boil together with Poria in a porcelain vessel for more than twenty boils. Remove the Polyporus, take out the Poria, dry it, and grind it into powder. Melt four taels of Huang La [Yellow Beeswax], stir and mix with the Poria powder to form pills the size of a bullet. Chew each pill thoroughly on an empty stomach until saliva fills the mouth, then swallow slowly. The effect is confirmed when urination becomes clear and smooth. Avoid rice vinegar. Especially avoid anger and emotional agitation.)
Wang Pusansaid: "Baopuzi records that after growing for thousands of years, small trees resembling lotus flowers grow on top of Poria, named Weixi Zhi (Miraculous Joy Mushroom). The current prescription uses this name. One must select Yun Poria that is old and dense in texture, processed with Polyporus to guide the medicinal action downward through the anterior yin. Yellow Beeswax is bland and enters yang, but cannot enter yin; therefore, yellow beeswax must be used. Its nature and flavor are mild and astringent, possessing the merit of restoring severance and supplementing marrow. It specifically regulates depleted primal yang and sorts out chaotic essence. Thus, it treats conditions of primal yang exhaustion resulting in seminal emission, white turbidity, and leukorrhea. However, if treating chronic cough due to lung deficiency with phlegm-fire, dense Poria is not necessary, and Polyporus can also be omitted."
Treats blood in the stool with miraculous efficacy.
Profuse bleeding from the rectum is difficult to treat. The Wu Mei Wan (Mume Pill) left by Jisheng Tang. Stir-fried and powdered Cang Er [Bombyx Batryticatus] mixed with mashed Wu Mei [Fructus Mume]. Take with vinegar; the illness will be cured after several doses. (Stir-fry one liang of Bombyx Batryticatus. Use one and a half liang of Fructus Mume pulp. Grind both into powder. Form pills using vinegar paste, sized like paulownia seeds. Take forty to fifty pills per dose, swallowed with vinegar-infused water on an empty stomach.)
Chen Xiuyuan said: Simple
Treats toxic dysentery. Cramping pain in the fu and zang organs. Pus and blood, red and white. Or passage of bloody clots. Unremitting day and night. As well as jin kou li (dysentery with inability to eat) and other severe forms of dysentery refractory to other medicines. This formula produces miraculous effects immediately. (Another verse: Doumen has a divine formula for dysentery, containing Black Bean, Peony, Elm Bark, Licorice, Poppy Shell, and Ginger. For cramping pain, pus, blood, and clots; even critical cases of inability to eat are no obstacle.)
Doumen has a miraculous formula for dysentery: Hei Dou [Black Soybean], Gan Jiang [Dried Ginger], Shao Yao [Peony Root], Gan Cao [Licorice Root], Di Yu [Sanguisorba Root], Ying Su Qiao [Poppy Capsule]. Effective for bloody/purulent stools and inability to eat. (Four qian of Dried Ginger. One sheng of Black Soybeans, decocted until reduced to 80% volume, then taken.)
Chen Xiuyuan said: Licorice Root and Black Soybeans can resolve various toxins. Once the toxin is resolved, the cramping pain is removed, and the red-and-white dysentery stops. The toxic qi does not rush up to the stomach opening, so the condition of inability to eat also subsides. Sanguisorba Root is used to dry dampness in the lower jiao, and Peony Root is used to drain heat in the lower jiao; this is the method of positive adjuvant therapy. The great pungency and warmth of Dried Ginger are used to open obstruction in the upper jiao; this is the method of counter-adjuvant therapy. Poppy Capsule is used to stop severe pain; its astringency is modified by the lubricating property of White Honey, which changes its nature; this is the method of skillful adjuvant therapy. Opium is made from the resin of the poppy that falls into the soil. It is called A Fu Lou. Nowadays, people who smoke it suffer many harms. If only one or two li are used in medicine, it stops heart and abdominal pain with miraculous effect. Therefore, its efficacy is double that of other medicines.
