Xijiang Yue (Poem):
Astringent opacity (a type of internal cataract characterized by grayish-white or yellowish turbidity in the pupil area) presents with a slight redness, appearing either scattered or gathered like a flower. Upon close inspection, the pupil area appears hazy like mist and rosy clouds; pain occurs even when there is no tearing. This is caused by wind-heat invading and harassing both the Liver and Lung meridians. Taking Huanjing San (Clear Vision Powder) is the best approach. Relying on miraculous eye drops has failed to cure it; thus, the lower stanza of Xijiang Yue is adjusted here for summary.
This condition arises from Kidney wind-heat, combined with the imbalance of Yin and Yang across the four seasons, excessive sexual activity, and physical fatigue. It is advisable to take Sanhua Wuzi Wan (Three-Flower Five-Seed Pill), Boyun San (Cloud-Dispelling Powder), Shengjin San (Gold-Overcoming Powder), and Jubao San (Treasure-Gathering Powder).

Zhegu Tian (Poem):
Horizontal opacity (a type of internal cataract characterized by horizontal grayish-white turbidity in the pupil area) is quite peculiar; the upper part is flat like a sword ridge, while the lower part is slightly raised. The thickness varies, being dense in some areas and thin in others; its fundamental characteristic is that it is neither painful nor itchy. Such symptoms are rare among patients. Once contracted, this disease is indeed difficult to treat. If treated by a skilled physician using the golden needle cataract extraction technique, vision may be restored, allowing one to leisurely observe the sunrise and sunset.
This is caused by deficiency-heat in the Kidneys. This disease is generally difficult to cure. It is advisable to take Sanhua Wuzi Wan (Three-Flower Five-Seed Pill), Jubao San (Treasure-Gathering Powder), Yandian Wan (Rock Lightning Pill), and Fushou San (Hand-Sweeping Powder).

Floating opacity (a type of internal cataract characterized by floating grayish-white turbidity in the pupil area) is silver-colored, with white light penetrating the pupil like water. When the disease first begins, the opacity is small; its cause lies in the dysfunction of the Triple Burner (Sanjiao). It is neither itchy nor painful, but causes mental lethargy, lackluster eyesight, and frequent appearance of opacities. Do not sigh in vain; seek medical treatment to avoid suffering.
This is caused by heat in the brain leading to lipid coagulation, also known as Ju San Yi (Gathering and Scattering Opacity). It is advisable to take Zhenxin Wan (Heart-Calming Pill), Lianqiao San (Forsythia Powder), and Tuixue San (Blood-Dispersing Powder).

Zhegu Tian (Poem):
The opacity resembles a crescent moon and looks like congealed fat. This is a pathology of the Liver meridian, which is originally rare. The thinner parts are deficient, while the thicker parts are white; the irregularities are unpredictable, so forced treatment is unnecessary. How can acupuncture and herbal medicine be applied? It is unknown when peace will return. Remember these admonitions and do not force effort; even if you encounter a master physician like Bian Que, it will ultimately be ineffective.
This is caused by failure of the Kidneys due to pathogenic toxic heat. This disease is difficult to cure. It is advisable to take Sanhua Wuzi Wan (Three-Flower Five-Seed Pill), Mengling Wan (Dream Spirit Pill), and Fushou San (Hand-Sweeping Powder).
