The above ingredients are used in equal parts, ground into fine powder. Each dose is one qian, taken together with one dried persimmon and one zhong of rice washing water, decocted until the water is dry. The dried persimmon is then consumed at any time without restriction. Effectiveness is seen after seven days; for severe cases, effectiveness is seen after half a month. (This addresses the condition where children's smallpox/rash toxins enter the eyes, forming opacities that obscure vision.)

Also take Sand (Borax), Rushen (Olibanum), and Pishuang (Arsenic Trioxide), each the size of a mung bean, grind them, and place them in the bowl with the mugwort. Burn them to produce smoke, steaming the medicine in the bowl until the medicine and mugwort are completely consumed. Remove the bowl, split it open, grind the residue finely. Use a quantity the size of a millet grain to instill into the eye; this yields miraculous effects.
In all cases where, after children's smallpox/rash, toxic vapors attack the eyes, or opacities and red veins appear, causing a sensation of hidden irritation, swelling, pain, tearing, and photophobia making it difficult to open the eyes, it is appropriate to clear the heart and cool the liver; achieving purgation through evacuation is effective.
