[Wo Xue Tang (Snow-Melting Decoction)] Used to resolve the exterior, treating cold damage in all seasons, epidemic febrile diseases, wind-dampness, Yin-Yang dual infection (simultaneous pathogenic invasion of both Yin and Yang meridians), and unresolved exterior syndromes. Symptoms include high fever and body pain, aversion to wind, nasal congestion, headache, and irritability/fatigue in the four limbs and neck. It is also used to treat miasma caused by fog and dampness, as well as diseases triggered by exposure to cold pathogens. This medicine is mild and warm, harmonizing the interior and exterior, and accommodating Yin and Yang; it can be taken by both the elderly and children. Upon first feeling a chill, taking two doses consecutively will lead to immediate recovery. This prescription is from Zhang Maoshen, Prefect of Chuzhou.
Herbs: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 8 liang, peeled), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 4 liang, peeled), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white pith removed), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix).
Preparation and Administration: Cut the herbs into small pieces. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm.

Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1 zhan of water and 3 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct until 0.7 parts remain, and take warm at any time.

Herbs: Heidou (Sojae Semen Nigrum, 2 he, stir-fried until fragrant and cooked), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 cun, stir-fried until yellow).
Preparation and Administration: Add 2 zhan of water, decoct until half remains, sip frequently. At that time, those suffering from swelling due to epidemics found this formula universally effective.
[Another Formula for Cold Injury] Treats cold injury. When humans are injured by cold, Ying Blood is damaged, and blood belongs to Ying; when injured by wind, Wei Qi is damaged, and qi belongs to Wei. Therefore, when treating Shanghan, one should use herbs like Danggui.
Herbs: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 6 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, processed with ginger juice, each 2 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 1 liang), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, each 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Cut into small pieces. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, 5 slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and 2 dates (Jujubae Fructus), decoct until 0.8 parts remain, strain, and take hot before meals.
[Gegen Gancao San]
Herbs: Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 7 liang, washed in water using a bamboo basket, peeling not required), Gan Ge (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, 3.5 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1.75 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1 zhan of water, decoct until 0.8 parts remain, and take. If chopped scallion heads (Cong Bai) are mixed with tea, the effect is even faster; mixing with wine is also acceptable.
