Formula for Peeling Skin.
Lord Zhao of Chuzhou said that when his eldest son was a few years old, he suddenly cried continuously at night for several evenings, and the cause was unknown. Subsequently, a redness appeared on one spot below the external genitalia. Within a few days, the scrotum peeled like an eggshell. This recurred three or five times; each time it recurred, he cried at night, and the peeling resembled the previous episodes. Suddenly, a Daoist priest suggested using powder from fir wood bran charcoal mixed with calomel (Nifen) and raw oil for topical application. After a single application, the symptoms ceased.
Lord Zhao stated that when his son was over ten years old, he was startled by a dog while urinating. At that time, there were no other symptoms. However, about ten days later, he suddenly experienced urinary retention. Initially, his bowel movements seemed loose, but they later returned to normal. Roughly once every half month, he would urinate. There were no discomforts in diet or daily life, nor any abdominal distension or swelling of the limbs. The prescription used: Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Ban Liang; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Yi Fen. These were ground into fine powder and taken with decoction of Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix). Within four or five days, urination became unobstructed. If continued, urination occurred once every three days, and eventually, after completing the course, once every two days. A second formula using Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), etc., was also mentioned, though not fully recalled. After several doses, recovery was achieved. The third formula was not used.
