Apply fine ivory shavings to the affected area, and the thorn will emerge immediately, with the wound healing promptly. In one case, a person's middle finger was pierced by a bamboo splinter with severe pain; applying this remedy yielded immediate results!
Fu Cilü stated that this method originates from *Shenghui Fang* (Prescriptions of the Holy Benefit). It was once used to save a farm servant, proving extremely effective. The patient had a splinter in the sole of his foot, causing agony bordering on death, with excruciating pain. By the fourth watch (around 1-3 AM), upon inspection, the splinter had emerged, and the patient was relieved.
Mash black sheep dung until pulpy, mix with water, and apply thickly to the injured site as the best method.
Another prescription: Chew white plums thoroughly and apply the paste to the injury; the splinter will emerge spontaneously.
Yet another prescription: Mash yellow chestnut husks (the inner skin of the chestnut) thoroughly and apply to the site; the splinter will emerge spontaneously. These three prescriptions all originate from Volume 68 of *Shenghui Fang*, with the chestnut husk being particularly effective.
Another prescription: Chen Zhengqing reported that Jiao Jiqing mentioned using dried bladder from salted white fish applied to the injury, followed by ingesting ash from calcinated fish bladder glue, mixed with wine for administration.
If the splinter does not emerge, Sun Yingzhong transmitted a method from Patrolman Guo: similarly, do not use silk cloth as a lining; once the splinter emerges, wipe it clean immediately.
Grind castor beans (Ricini Semen) into a pulp, line the injured area with silk gauze, then apply the medicine. Observe frequently; if the splinter appears, pull it out. This is to prevent the medication from being too tight and pushing healthy flesh out instead.
For treating contusions and traumatic injuries, tendon ruptures, and bone fractures, the Black Divine Powder (Heishen San) for setting bones and relieving pain, transmitted by Huagong Shi.
Ox tibia with marrow (regardless of front or hind leg): Burn over charcoal until smoke ceases, remove, soak in rice vinegar, cover with a basin placed on the ground, and allow to cool.
Zhendingqi (an iron vessel): Heat red-hot over charcoal, quench ten times in rice vinegar, until soft and malleable.
Grind both ingredients into fine powder. Mix seven parts ox tibia powder with three parts Zhendingqi powder evenly. For contusions, mix the powder with good rice vinegar and flour to form a thick paste, apply to the injured area, and seal with three layers of paper. For fractures, secure with bamboo strips over the paper, bind with silk gauze, ensuring no movement. For initial contusions, take two qian of the powder mixed with hot wine internally, which is highly effective. For injuries above the waist, take before meals; for injuries below the waist, take after meals. Administer twice daily.
Another prescription: Same as Rusheng Gao (Like-Sage Ointment).
Galangal Rhizome (Gaoliangjiang), Evodia Fruit (Wuzhuyu), Cibotium Rhizome (Jinmaogouji, peeled), Momordica Seed (Mubiezi, shelled), White Rosin (Biaojiaoxiang, ground separately), Tortoise Carapace (Baiguiké, dipped in vinegar and roasted until yellow), Achyranthes Root (Niuxi).
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Add flour and simmer with wine to form an ointment. Apply to the affected area and seal with seven layers of paper. The tendons and bones will naturally reconnect. Change the dressing every seven days. Do not use excessive wine or flour; stop when the flour is cooked, as over-cooking may diminish the medicinal efficacy.
