Remove the hairs from Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu), grind into powder, apply dry directly to the affected area, or wrap cotton around a stick to apply the powder; repeated use has proven effective!
The prescription transmitted by Zhao Shi KT Binlao, Zong of Xiwai.
Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) (10 liang, approximately one handful, those with nine nodes are preferred); Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (5 liang, carefully cleaned and processed).
Crush the above two herbs into chunks, place them in a bottle, soak in rice washing water for seven days. Remove and discard the Cangzhu, keeping only the Shichangpu powder. Steam the Shichangpu powder over a steamer for three shichen (approx. 6 hours), remove, bake dry, crush and sieve into fine powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with glutinous rice drink, taken three times a day. Alternatively, shape the steamed medicine into large pieces the size of a fingernail, place in the mouth after meals, chew occasionally, and swallow the saliva.
Chew Huangla (Beeswax) together with Fuling (Poria).
Muxiang (Moschus) (stir-fried, half a qian); Chanqiao (Cicadae Periostracum) (half a liang, carefully cleaned, fire-burned until carbonized but retaining its nature).
Grind the above two together into dust-like powder. First, use cotton to clear the pus from the ear canal completely. Then, insert the medicine into the ear gate, do not move it. Once foul matter is expelled, the condition will be cured.
Treatment for Otorrhea: Erhongmian San (Ear Red Cotton Powder).
Touming Baifan (Alumen) calcined by fire, ground finely in equal parts with Toushe Pizi (a type of clay/raw material). First, use a cotton-wrapped stick to remove pus and yellow fluid from the ear until clean. Then, use another cotton-wrapped stick to guide the medicine in, or use a goose feather tube to gently blow the powder into the ear. Adding a small amount of Muxiang (Moschus) is particularly beneficial.
Another prescription, from Xiao Sizhi.
Sangpiaoxiao (Ovum Mantidis) one piece, roasted over fire until scorched yellow, ground into fine powder. Add a small amount of Muxiang (Moschus) and Qingfen (Calamina). First, wipe away all pus with cotton, then apply the powder dry.
Xingren (Armeniacae Semen) stir-fried until scorched black, ground into paste, wrapped in cotton and inserted into the ear. Wu Nei Han used this personally with good effect!
