Sophora Flower (Huaihua) and Sophora Fruit (Huaijiao):
Take the above two ingredients in equal parts, stir-fry until fragrant, and grind into a fine powder. Dip the powder in sheep blood, roast until hot, and eat it, washing it down with wine. Alternatively, some suggest dipping the powder in skinless pork fat, roasting it, and taking it orally.
Bladder strangury (Lin syndrome), red and white turbid urine, small intestine hernia, chancroid, seminal emission and leakage, sweaty yin, yin sores, running piglet (Ben tun).
Formula for treating long-standing cold and stagnant qi in the bladder, while simultaneously strengthening primordial qi.
Agarwood (Chenxiang), Costus Root (Muxiang), Borneo Fennel (Boshang Huixiang, lightly stir-fried), Lindera Root (Wuyao), Dodder Seed (Tusizi, soaked in wine for three days and ground into a paste), Bellflower Fruit (Jinlingzi, each sliced into eight pieces and placed individually with shelled beans), Beansprout (Badou, three grains, stir-fried with bran until cooked; remove the Badou and use only the Jinlingzi that have absorbed its properties, half tael each), Peach Kernel (Taoren, one tael, [processed in silver vessel... text incomplete]).
Grind the above seven ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with wine paste to form pills the size of sophora seeds. Take ten to fifteen pills per dose, washed down with warm wine on an empty stomach. An increase in urination or diarrhea indicates the efficacy!
Shijing Wan (Ten Essence Pill), commonly taken for lower body conditions.
Evodia Fruit (Wuzhuyu), Fennel (Huixiang), Sichuan Pepper (Taijiao, these three are stir-fried together until scorched yellow), Psoralea Fruit (Poguzhi, stir-fried), Toosendan Fruit (Chuanlianzi, pitted and stir-fried), Tangerine Peel (Chenpi), Green Tangerine Peel (Qingpi), Atractylodes Rhizome (Cangzhu), Large Aconite Root (Da Chuanwu, stir-fried with green salt until reddish, skin and sprouts removed), Galangal Root (Liangjiang, stir-fried).
Each of the above ten ingredients is one tael. Grind them together into a fine powder. Form pills using wine paste. Take twenty to thirty pills per dose, washed down with salt water or warm wine on an empty stomach. Women should take it with rice vinegar soup.
Mainly treats rising qi causing rushing sensations, chest and diaphragm oppression and blockage, as well as cold dampness in the abdomen, borborygmus, and pain. Transmitted by Chu Rixin.
Pinellia Tuber (Banxia, soaked in boiling water seven times), Evodia Fruit (Wuzhuyu, soaked in boiling water), Cinnamon Twig (Guixin, five taels each), Ginseng Root (Renshen), Licorice Root (Gancao, three taels each, honey-fried).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take three qian per dose. Add one large cup of water and five slices of ginger. Decoct until six-tenths of the liquid remains. Strain and take warm before meals.
Treats deficiency of primordial yang, attacking rush of cold qi, causing swelling and pain in the bladder and small intestine, or pain radiating from the heart and hypochondrium to the lower abdomen, extending to the genital region, resulting in increased body coldness and unbearable cramping pain. Take two to three pills per dose, before meals on an empty stomach, swallowed with warm wine or salt water. Administer two doses consecutively. This formula is equally effective.
Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, soaked in wine overnight), Broussonetia Fruit (Chushizi), Toosendan Fruit (Chuanlianzi, stir-fried, one and a half taels each), Scorpion (Quanxie, forty units, roasted), Beansprout (Badou, seven grains, stir-fried until cooked, skin and shell removed).
Grind the above five ingredients into a fine powder. Use the wine in which the Danggui was soaked to make a wheat flour paste, mixing it with the powder to form pills the size of a chicken head. Take on an empty stomach before meals, washed down with warm wine or salt water.
