This formula treats arm pain. The *Zhimi Fang* records: A person suffered from arm pain unable to raise the arm, or pain shifting between left and right. This is due to latent phlegm stagnation and impaired spleen qi circulation, clashing with qi. The four limbs belong to the spleen; when stagnation prevents qi from descending, it attacks upward into the arms, resulting in a deep and fine pulse. Later physicians identified this arm pain as a phlegm syndrome. Using this medicine to treat phlegm has never failed. Fuling (Poria, 1 liang) Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, bran-fried and pith removed, 0.5 liang) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, 2 liang) Fenghua Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas Exsiccatus, 1 fen)
The above four ingredients are ground into fine powder. Pills are made using natural juice of fresh ginger as a binder, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, swallowed with ginger decoction. Repeatedly, patients suffering from phlegm complained that their arms felt pulled at night, with trembling and burning sensations in both hands, so severe they could not even lift a teacup. Treating them solely with this medicine resulted in immediate recovery after ingestion. There are many medicines for phlegm in the world, but none produce such miraculous effects as quickly as this one.
