Water Qi and Gu Distension
Take one winter melon from the middle section, remove the pulp, insert ten taels of chopped Cinnamon Twig (Rougui), cover the opening, wrap it with multiple layers of wet paper, dig a pit in the ground, and surround it with charcoal.
Poria (Fuling) and Red Date Pits (crushed to extract the kernels, equal parts with Poria).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, and take with rice water.
Wang Shangzhi, Tixing, transmitted that this is a prescription from Wuyi County, which has cured several people with excellent results!
Yellow Catfish (one) and Mung Bean (about one he).
Boil the above into a light soup and consume it in one sitting. Zhang Shengzhi, a physician from Shaoxing, stated that boiling Mung Beans with Phytolaccae Radix (Shanglu) until cooked, removing the Phytolaccae Radix, and eating the Mung Beans at will is also wonderful!
The Zhuxi San (Drainage Gas Powder) in Volume II of Wang's Boji Fang is very similar to this prescription.
Chen Tong, an accountant at the Gongshi Wine Warehouse in Chuzhou, suffered from this illness and was near death; medication had already been discontinued. Accidentally, a woman transmitted this prescription, saying it was taught by a Daoist priest. After taking it, the pathogenic factor was discharged through urine in several buckets, and he recovered. This occurred in the Yisi year; I recorded it when I was the magistrate of Qingliu.
One clove of Garlic, mashed thoroughly, mixed with Arcae Concha (Gefen) without specific dosage, enough to form pills, sized like Sophora Seed (Tongzi). Take ten pills each time, swallowed with plain boiled water. If Qi does not ascend or descend, take one head of Garlic, split each clove, insert seven grains of Fennel Fruit (Huixiang) into each clove, wrap in wet paper and roast until fragrant and cooked, chew thoroughly, and swallow with plain boiled water. Discontinue if ineffective.
A young girl with generalized edema and protruding umbilicus took this prescription and achieved immediate effect, as recorded in Waitai Miyao.
Black Soybean (cooked, skin removed, dried, ground into powder, taken with rice water, one to two qian).
Transmitted by Qian Zhaoyuan, Magistrate.
Evodia Fruit (Wuzhuyu) and Immature Bitter Orange (Zhishi) (each half tael), Red Poria (Chi Fuling) and Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu) (each one tael).
Crush the above ingredients, divide into three doses. For each dose, use three cups of water, add one tael of crushed Black Ginger (Heijiang), decoct together until one cup remains, remove the dregs, and divide into two servings. Take at any time, finishing this batch within one day. Avoid salty foods. This medicine has cured many people repeatedly; do not treat it lightly as an ordinary drug.
It specifically treats ten types of Water Qi disorders, expelling Yin evil, consolidating Yang, rescuing critical conditions, with effects beyond description. Whenever there is slight swelling in the feet and knees, accompanied by asthma or shortness of breath, it is a sign of Water Qi syndrome. Quickly prepare and take this medicine.
Three taels of large and round Snake Yellow (Shehuang), place in a new crucible, heat with one sheng of charcoal until red hot. Immediately remove the crucible from the fire and pour into two sheng of strong rice vinegar. Wait for it to cool, then take out and grind until no sound is produced. Use five taels of genuine Needle Sand (Zhencha); sellers often mix in iron filings, so careful selection is required. Wash thoroughly with water, drain, place in a raw iron pot, and boil together with three taels of Halloysitum Rubrum (Yuyuliang) using two sheng of rice vinegar until the vinegar is dry. Heat the pot and contents over charcoal until red hot, pour onto a clean brick, wait for cooling, then grind everything together until no sound is produced and it becomes as fine as powder. These three substances are the main components. Secondly, add the following herbs according to the patient's deficiency or excess. Treating Water Qi usually involves cold purgatives; however, these three main herbs in this prescription are not comparable to Kansui Root (Gansui), Lepidii Semen (Tinglizi), or Genkwa Flower (Yuanhua). With the assistance of the following herbs, even the elderly and those with deficiency can take it.
Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo), Szechwan Lovage Rhizome (Chuanxiong), Achyranthes Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi) (soaked in wine overnight), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) (stir-fried until yellow), Poria (Fuling), Myristica Seed (Roudoukou) (processed), Cinnamon Twig (Gui), Eucommia Bark (Duzhong), Fennel Fruit (Huixiang) (lightly stir-fried), Curcuma Zedoaria Rhizome (Penglang), Angelica Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (soaked in wine overnight; full dose for the elderly, half dose for robust individuals).
Grind the above into fine powder, mix thoroughly. Soak steamed bread dough in water, squeeze out the moisture, mix with the medicine, and pound again until extremely uniform. Form pills the size of Sophora Seeds. Take three to five pills on an empty stomach before meals with warm wine or plain boiled water. Avoid salt for three months; even a tiny amount of salt must not enter the mouth. After the Water Qi is eliminated, the taste in the mouth may become bland; use a little vinegar to season food.
Initially, Daoist Zhan from Xianju transmitted this prescription, stating that patients who cannot avoid salt should not take this medicine, as it would be futile. If one truly wishes to save life and seek survival amidst death, one must strictly adhere to this method and sincerely avoid salt. The medicine acts only through urination and does not damage the Zang-Fu organs. After the illness subsides, continue taking this medicine, one to two times daily, and simultaneously administer mild spleen-regulating and blood-nourishing tonics for care. This is a divine prescription!
