The meridian of Hand-Jueyin Pericardium originates in the chest, emerges to connect with the Pericardium (Pericardium, the protective sac of the heart), descends through the diaphragm, and successively connects with the Sanjiao (Triple Burner, a concept referring to three functional systems in the body). Its branch follows the chest, emerges from the hypochondrium, ascends to the axilla at three cun lateral to the nipple, then descends along the medial aspect of the arm, running between the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin and the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin. It enters the cubital fossa (at Quze PC3), descends along the forearm between two tendons (where Neiguan PC6 is located), enters the center of the palm (Laogong PC8), and follows the middle finger to its tip (Zhongchong PC9). Another branch separates from the palm, runs between the index and ring fingers, and emerges at their tips (here the Pericardium Meridian connects with the Triple Burner Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang).
When the meridian undergoes pathological changes ("Shi Dong" diseases), symptoms include heat in the palms, spasticity and stiffness of the elbow and arm (difficulty extending the limbs), swelling of the axilla, and in severe cases, distension and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, palpitations (described as "dandan," resembling water rippling), redness of the face, yellowing of the eyes, and excessive laughter.
Diseases generated by the meridian itself ("Suo Sheng Bing") involve vexation, heart pain, and heat in the palms. In excess conditions, the Renying pulse (ST9) is larger than the Cunkou pulse (Radial artery) by one fold; in deficiency conditions, the Cunkou pulse is smaller than the Renying pulse.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium is named Neiguan (PC6), located two cun proximal to the wrist crease, emerging between the two tendons, ascending along the meridian to connect with the Pericardium. Excess in the Heart system causes heart pain; deficiency causes vexation. Treatment involves needling the point between the two tendons.
The sinews of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium originate at the middle finger, run parallel with the sinews of the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin, and knot at the medial aspect of the elbow. They ascend along the medial arm to knot in the axilla, then descend to scatter anteriorly and posteriorly flanking the costal region. A branch enters the axilla, scatters in the chest, and knots at the贲 (cardia/upper stomach). Pathological changes occur at the sites traversed, manifesting as support-like sensations, spasms, anterior chest pain, and dyspnea. Treatment utilizes burning needle puncture (fire needle therapy), using the number of applications until improvement is felt, and using painful points as acupoints. This condition is called "Mengdong Bi" (early winter bi syndrome).
The meridian of Hand-Jueyin Pericardium travels from the abdomen to the hand, measuring three chi and five cun in length, totaling seven chi for both sides. There are eighteen acupoints in total: Tianchi (PC1) x2, Tianquan (PC2) x2, Quze (PC3) x2, Ximen (PC4) x2, Jianshi (PC5) x2, Zhongchong (PC9) x2, Neiguan (PC6) x2, Laogong (PC8) x2, and Tailing (PC7) x2.
