The so-called "Jiu Pi Qi" (Long-standing Mass Qi Disorder) originates from the proliferation of pathogenic factors. It is formed by the accumulation and coagulation of Yin and Yang Qi. This condition arises from disharmony among the Zang-Fu organs and weakness of the Spleen and Stomach.
People in those times often suffered from this disease, which was extremely difficult to cure suddenly. It would persist for months or even years, forming accumulations, hence the name "Jiu Pi Qi."
Wutou Wan (Cuscuta Pill, sourced from *Shenghui Fang*), treats Jiu Pi Qi. Symptoms include abdominal accumulations, pathogenic factors moving back and forth causing Jue Ni (Cold Reversal), striking the heart and chest causing fullness and oppression, vomiting, and regurgitation of food.
Herbs: Chuan Wutou (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang 5 qian), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 3 fen), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 3 fen), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 3 fen), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 3 fen), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 1 liang), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 1 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 0.5 liang), Ziwan (Asternis Radix, 0.5 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 0.5 liang), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 0.5 liang), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 0.5 liang), Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina, 0.5 liang).
Usage: Take each dose at any time, swallowing twenty pills with warm wine.
Jingsanleng Wan (Sparganii Rhizoma Pill, sourced from *Shenghui Fang*), treats Jiu Pi Qi. Symptoms include distension and fullness of the heart and abdomen, pain in the heart and back that occurs intermittently and radiates, indigestion of retained food, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
Herbs: Jingsanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, 3 fen), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, 1 liang), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang 5 qian), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 0.5 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 fen), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 3 fen), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, 2 liang), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 1 liang), Binglang (Arecae Semen, 1 liang).
Preparation: The above herbs are pounded, sifted into powder, mixed with refined honey, and pounded for five to seven hundred strokes until uniform. Form into pills the size of paulownia seeds.
Usage: Take each dose at any time, swallowing thirty pills with rice broth.
Dahuang Wan (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma Pill, sourced from *Shenghui Fang*), treats Jiu Pi Qi. Symptoms include irregular onset and remission, emaciation, frequent vomiting and regurgitation, and pain in the shoulders and back. Suitable for such cases.
