When Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) are severely deficient, the Zang-Fu organs are damaged, and the blood vessels are empty and exhausted. If this is caused by uncontrolled anger or excessive fright and resentment, leading to a sudden reversal and overflow of violent Qi, it causes the Cou Li (skin texture and pores) to open.
Hei San Zi (Black Powder) (from *Zhizhi Fang*): It treats all types of bleeding from the orifices.
Lotus pod from two years ago, decayed palm frond, human hair (all carbonized to retain their properties, in equal parts). Grind the above into powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with decoction of Xiang Mu (Aucklandiae Radix), or use only the palm frond alone.
Zhu Ru Di Huang Tang (Bamboo Shavings and Rehmannia Decoction) (from *Shenghui Fang*): A formula for treating bleeding from the nine orifices and between the fingers/toes of the four limbs.
Qing Zhu Ru (Green Bamboo Shavings), Pu Huang (Typhae Pollen) (each 0.5 liang), Sheng Di Huang (Fresh Rehmanniae Radix, 1 liang, finely cut). Chop the above ingredients, add one large cup of water, decoct until six-tenths remains, remove the dregs, and take warm after meals.
Pu Huang San (Pollen Typhae Powder) (from *Shenghui Fang*):
Pu Huang (Typhae Pollen, slightly stir-fried), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones, calcined until red) (each 1 liang). Grind the above into a fine powder. Take 2 qian each time, mixed with rice gruel drink.
Treat bleeding from seven orifices (from *Jingxiao Liangfang*):
Take Niu Zhi (Cow Fat, also known as Niu Fu), cut into coarse pieces. Take one spoonful each time, decoct in a clay vessel with water; do not use iron vessels. Remove dregs and take continuously. Cover the top of the head with gauze, and tie the stem core around the root of the little finger: left hand for males, right hand for females.
Treat cases where bleeding occurs from all nine orifices and between the fingers/toes of the four limbs, which is caused by sudden fright. Do not let the patient know about the condition (from *Shenghui Fang*):
Splash well water on the face; it is miraculous for treating Bi Xue (epistaxis/nosebleed).
Jing Jie Tang (Schizonepeta Decoction): Treats bleeding from the nine orifices.
Another prescription (from *Zhizhi Fang*): Treats sudden fright-induced wind syndrome with bleeding from the nine orifices and a deficient pulse.
Use 100 grains of Ling Sha (Cinnabar Purified), divided into three doses, taken with decoction of Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma).
Treat continuous bleeding from the nose, ears, mouth, and eyes (from *Jingxiao Liangfang*):
Burn Chi Ma Fen (Red Horse Manure) to ash, mix with warm wine to take 1 qian. Alternatively, mix with water, squeeze out the juice, take one small cup each time, and administer frequently.
Another prescription (from *Shenghui Fang*):
Obtain the umbilical stool of a newborn calf before it touches the ground, dry it in the sun, burn it to ash, and grind into powder. Take one fang cun bi (a square-inch measure) each time, four to five times daily.
