Yin sores (Genital ulcers) are of three types: one is damp Yin sore, two is jealousy sore (Du Jing Chuang), three is Yin erosion sore, also called Xia Gan sore. The damp type arises from deficiency and weakness of the Kidney meridian.
[Text fragment missing]
Xia Gan sore.
Regarding Wind-Cold of the Kidney: It is said that excess causes pain, while deficiency causes itching. It is clear that itching stems from Kidney deficiency. The Kidney belongs to the Foot Shaoyin meridian. Dampness and itching in the scrotum occur because a person's essence and blood are not sufficient, internally consumed by lust, and externally invaded by wind-cold. Wind-toxicity and dampness all enter through deficiency. How could there be no itching and damp sores in the scrotum? How could there be no sores on the feet? The method of treatment should first disperse wind-pathogens and circulate damp-toxicity. Then, use Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 当归) to invigorate blood, combined with Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 细辛) and Tribuli Fructus (Jili, 蒺藜) to expel wind. These categories of herbs nourish and bring balance. If one hastily uses harsh and drying agents like Aconiti Radix (Chuanwu, 川乌) or Psoraleae Fructus (Guzhi, 故纸), I fear this will trap internal pathogens, and the disease will not heal. Occasionally, patients are injured by alcohol and fried foods, resulting in Kidney deficiency with accompanying heat. For such cases, preparations like Pig Stomach with Coptidis Rhizoma steamed into pills are indispensable. If no medicinal treatment is applied, and one relies solely on hot water washing, although relief may be temporary, the True Qi is further depleted, and the Liver and Kidney become more deficient. Some do not know how to provide aid.
