For cases of deficiency and seminal emission during dreams after typhoid fever (Shanghan), the cause is pathogenic heat invading the Kidney, leading to a deficiency of Yin Qi. When Yin Qi is deficient, one may dream of sexual intercourse. The Kidney governs the storage and consolidation of essence. Due to Kidney deficiency failing to control the essence, seminal emission during dreams occurs.
