上为
The Large Intestine Fu organ is governed by the Lung. The central part of the nasal column serves as its external indicator. The Lung harmonizes Qi with the Large Intestine. The Large Intestine is the Fu organ responsible for conducting and excreting waste.
If the Yang pulse at the Cun Kou position (Cun position) on the right hand is absent, it indicates the absence of the Large Intestine pulse. If the patient suffers from shortness of Qi and fluid retention in the epigastrium, coughing will occur upon the Start of Autumn solar term. Treatment should involve needling the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian to treat Yin syndromes.
If the Yang pulse at the Cun Kou position on the right hand is Excess, it indicates Large Intestine Excess Syndrome. The patient experiences severe cutting pain in the intestines, as if pierced by needles or knives, without respite. Treatment should involve needling the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian to treat Yang syndromes.
When the Large Intestine is diseased, there is severe cutting pain in the intestines accompanied by gurgling sounds (Zhuozhuo sound). If exposed to cold again in winter, diarrhea occurs, with pain around the umbilicus, and an inability to stand for long periods. The pulse presentation is similar to that of the Stomach. Treatment can target the Shangliao (ST37) and Zusanli (ST36) acupoints.
Large Intestine distension presents with borborygmus and pain. Cold causes diarrhea and undigested food in stool.
Cold in the Large Intestine leads to loose stools; Heat in the Large Intestine leads to the passage of sticky, turbid fecal matter.
Food stagnation in the Large Intestine causes chills and fever, resembling malaria attacks at times.
Pathogens affecting the Lung first may transmit to the Large Intestine. Persistent Lung cough results in involuntary urination or defecation during coughing. Rebellious Qi lodging in the Large Intestine causes dreams of open fields.
The Lung corresponds to the skin. Thick skin indicates a thick Large Intestine; thin skin indicates a thin Large Intestine. Loose skin with a large abdomen indicates a lax and elongated Large Intestine; tight skin indicates a tense Large Intestine.
Bian Que stated: The Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian and the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian are exterior-interior pairs. If the Large Intestine has Excess syndrome, it injures with Heat. Heat causes distension and obstruction, leading to oral ulcers. After food enters the intestine... [text fragment] ...Cold leads to the failure of the Large Intestine function, which is incurable. How is this known? Uncontrolled diarrhea, followed by cessation of bowel movements, leads to death.
Patients experience alternating chills and fever, damaging Lung Qi. Sudden cough, vomiting, and regurgitation occur. Or, body heat with macules appears, accompanied by wheezing, coughing, and drawn-in breath. This disease is named "White Qi Li" (White Qi Cat/Leopard). [Text fragments "source from", "body heat" appear here, likely indicating etiology related to summer-heat in autumn].
If the Yang pulse before the Qi Kou position on the right Cun Kou is Excess, it belongs to the Hand Yangming Meridian. Symptoms include intestinal fullness, frequent wheezing and coughing, red face, body heat, and a nodular sensation in the throat like a cone piercing.
Large Intestine Excess generates Heat. Heat causes intestinal binding and distension, frequent wheezing and coughing, heat in the body and face, and throat obstruction. The condition alternates between Excess and Deficiency, coming and going intermittently.
