Efficacy: Strengthens teeth, stops pain, nourishes Qi and Blood, darkens beard and sideburns.

Indications: Dental pain, promotes gingival tissue growth, removes heat toxicity, resolves external wind.
Composition: Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, forked parts removed), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, sliced and baked), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, each 1 liang), Ben Cao (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, seedlings and soil removed), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, seedlings and soil removed). Chop the above, decoct with water.
[Formula] Hua Du Gao (Detoxification Ointment)
Indications: Toothache with cheek swelling.
Composition: Cong Gen (Scallion Root, one handful), Chu Yi Fen (Clothing Ash Powder, 1 liang), Dou Fen (Bean Starch, 1 liang), Tou Fa Hui (Hair Ash, 3 qian), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, 5 qian). Grind into fine powder, mix with light vinegar.
[Formula] Zhi Ya Teng Bu Ke Ren Zhe (Treatment for Unbearable Toothache) (from *Chuan Xin Shi Yong Fang*)
Composition: Ru Xiang (Olibanum, 1 qian), Hu Tao (Walnut, 1 fen), Bi Bo (Piperis Kadsurae Fructus, 1 fen), Fu Zi Pi Jian (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata Skin Tip, 1 qian), Xie Shao (Scorpion tail, half qian). Grind into fine powder, apply to toothache.
[Formula] Mang Cao San (Artemisiae Argyi Herba Powder) (from *Sheng Hui Fang*)
Indications: Toothache with cheek swelling.
Composition: Mang Cao (Artemisiae Argyi Herba), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, each 1 liang raw, remove skin and navel), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus, half liang remove pulp), Chuan Jiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 1 fen remove eyes and closed mouths, lightly stir-fry to release oil).
[Formula] Qian Dan Wan (Lithargyrum Pill) (from *Sheng Ji Zong Lu*)
Indications: Dental pain.
Composition: Qian Dan (Lithargyrum, 1 liang), Mang Cao (Artemisiae Argyi Herba, half liang), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, half raw half cooked, one branch), Shu Jiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove eyes and closed mouths, stir-fry 1 fen). Grind into powder, make pills with honey.
[Formula] Huai Zhi Tang (Locust Branch Decoction, also known as Mang Cao Ye San) (from *Sheng Ji Zong Lu*)
Indications: Dental pain.
Composition: Huai Zhi (Locust Branch, five handfuls chopped), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Mang Cao (Artemisiae Argyi Herba, one formula uses leaves), Wu Tong Lei (Wutong Gum, each 1 liang). Chop, divide into three doses, each dose decoct with 3 zhan of water.
[Formula] Li Xiao San (Rapid Effect Powder) (from *Yu Yao Yuan Fang*)
Indications: Unbearable toothache.
Composition: Bai Cao Shuang (Soot from Hundred Herbs, finely ground), Cang Yan (Cyan Salt, each 1 qian ground), Ru Xiang (Olibanum, finely ground half qian), She Xiang (Musk, pick clean skin and hair, separately ground extremely fine half fen). Mix in one place.
[Formula] Shu Feng San (Wind-Rinsing Powder) (from *Yu Yao Yuan Fang*)
Indications: Dental pain with gum swelling.
Composition: Jing Jie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Ben Cao (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Xiang Fu Zi (Cyperi Rhizoma, equal parts). Grind into coarse powder, use 5 qian each time, decoct with 3.5 zhan of water until 1 zhan remains, remove dregs.
[Formula] Fu Ling San (Poria Powder) (from *Yu Yao Yuan Fang*)
Indications: Dental pain, and gum swelling and pain.
Composition: Bai Fu Ling (Poria, skin removed), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, seedlings removed), Xiang Bai Zhi (Fragrant Angelica Root, each 1 liang), Han Shui Shi (Calcitum, selected and ground 4 qian). Grind into fine powder, use a little each time.
