Corresponding to humans, its organ is the Spleen, orifice is the mouth, and it nourishes the flesh. Its disease manifests as obstruction/blockage (Pi). This is what the annual movement governs.

Heavenly and earthly Qi: Cold transformation is above, with left-side dynamic transformation and right-side clear transformation. Thus, when heavenly administration spreads, its Qi is solemn. Sweet transformation is below, with left-side bright transformation and right-side scorching transformation. Thus, earthly Qi is tranquil and its orders are slow. Water and Earth combine their virtues, corresponding above to Chen Xing (Mercury) and Zhen Xing (Saturn). Cold descends into the great void, its administration is extensive, Yang Qi does not command, and there is no solar flame in the marshes. Fire's outbreak waits for its time, with Shaoyang governing in the middle, so seasonal rains reach their limit. When rain stops at the extreme and scatters, it returns to Taiyin. Clouds face the North Pole, and damp transformation is collected. Symptoms may include loose diarrhea and blood overflow.

Before the midpoint of the year, Taiyang governs. Taiyang has both root (Ben) and mark (Biao) transformations. If cold administration is extensive and hot Qi responds accordingly, the heavenly Qi achieves balance. After the midpoint of the year, Taiyin governs. Taiyin's transformation follows its root. If rain and dampness are severe, it is the response of earthly Qi. Cold transformation number is six, damp transformation number is five; this is the root of correct transformation. Use Hot medicine to regulate the upper part, and Bitter-Warm medicine to regulate the lower part.

First Qi Period: From Yin Chu on Da Han day of Gui Mao year to Zi Chu on Chun Fen day of this year, totaling 60 days and 87.5 ke. The Main Position is Tai Jiao Wood. [Text corruption: 'Ke Bing Sui'] The Main Position is Shao Zheng Fire. The Guest Qi is Yangming Metal. With Earth and Metal harmonizing, Great Coolness reverses and arrives. People become miserable, grass meets cold, and Fire Qi is suppressed. People suffer from Qi stagnation and abdominal fullness. Cold begins. It is appropriate to treat the Yangming Guest Qi: tonify with Sour, drain with Pungent, and disperse with Bitter. Year grain should be Black [Xuan], inter-grain should be Yellow Millet (Shu), so Dryness will not become pathogenic.

Third Qi Period: From Hai Chu on Xiao Man day to You Chu on Da Shu day, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Shao Zheng Fire. The Guest Qi is Taiyang Water. Central Earth Movement is seen. Heavenly administration spreads, Cold Qi moves, and rain descends. People suffer from Cold, but also internal Heat, carbuncles, and dysentery. Heart heat and dizziness occur; if untreated, death ensues. Treat the Taiyang Guest Qi: tonify with Bitter, drain with Salty, consolidate with Bitter, and moisten with Pungent. Year grain should be Black, inter-grain should be Foxtail Millet (Ji), so Cold will not become pathogenic.

Fourth Qi Period: From You Zheng on Da Shu day to Wei Zheng on Qiu Fen day, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Tai Gong Earth. The Guest Qi is Jueyin Wood. Central Earth Movement is seen. Year Earth is in position, Wind Qi dominates. Wind and Damp compete, Wind transforms into Rain. Growth and completion occur. People suffer from major heat, shortness of breath, muscle atrophy, foot flaccidity, and red-and-white dysentery. Treat the Jueyin Guest Qi: tonify with Pungent, drain with Sour, and relax with Sweet. Year grain should be [Missing], inter-grain should be Rice, so Wind will not become pathogenic.

Fifth Qi Period: From Shen Chu on Qiu Fen day to Wu Chu on Xiao Xue day, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Shao Shang Metal. The Guest Qi is Shaoyin Fire. Central Earth Movement is seen. Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal. Qi positions harmonize, Yang transforms reversely, grass grows, matures, and completes. People feel comfortable. Regulate the Shaoyin Guest Qi: tonify with Salty, drain with Sweet, and astringe with Sour. Year grain should be [Missing], inter-grain should be Beans, so Heat will not become pathogenic.

Final Qi Period: From Wu Zheng on Xiao Xue day to Chen Zheng on Da Han day, totaling over 60 days. The Main Position is Tai Yu Water. The Guest Qi is Taiyin Earth. Central Earth Movement is seen. Qi and Movement match (Fu). Earth Qi is correct, Damp Command acts. Yin condenses in the great void, dust dims the suburbs. People feel bleak and cold. Cold wind arrives; those who reverse [the natural order] die during gestation. Treat the Taiyin Guest Qi: tonify with Sweet, drain with Bitter, and relax with Sweet. Year grain should be [Missing], inter-grain should be Hemp (Ma), so Dampness will not become pathogenic. This Qi cannot be offended by Coolness, as the governing Qi is Cool. Although the year Qi is balanced, if pathogenic Qi exists, it attacks the Central Executive Law (Zhong Zhi Fa).
