Imbalance of cold and heat. Irregular diet. Unceasing worry and thought. Uncontrolled anger and joy. Weak qi and deficient blood. Exposure to wind pathogens. Cold qi enters the Longmen (gate of dragon, referring to the lower jiao or kidney qi source). Pathogenic qi transmits to yang qi [text incomplete], forming hard masses.
*Rumen Shiqin* records: The wife of Wang Zai from Shenqiu suffered from chest and diaphragm obstruction. She only produced saliva. She stated it was swallowed into the stomach. There were frequent borborygmi (rumbling sounds like thunder). Occasional mild pain in the heart region. Medicines did not cause damage [text unclear/incomplete], middle has [accumulation?], ten [parts?], middle [disease?], complete [cure?], method [formula?].
Danggui Wan (from *Qianjin Fang*) treats women with stabbing pain in the umbilical region due to zheng and jia masses. It feels like being bitten by insects, or pierced by awls and knives. Or twelve types of leukorrhea with red and white discharge.
Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Ting Li (Descurainiae Semen seu Lepidii Semen), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (each 2 liang); Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), Xiong Duan (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (each 1.5 liang).
Lu Wan (from *Jisheng Bahui*) treats internal shanghan (cold damage). Qi stagnates and does not flow. Knots outside the intestines. Over time becomes zhengjia (masses). Occasional pain. Waist cannot extend.
San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma), E Zhu (Curcumae Rhizoma) (each 1 liang, cut into pieces, soaked in wine for both); Gan Qi (Drynariae Rhizoma / Cinnabar? Context suggests Drynaria or similar resinous substance, but text says Gan Qi usually implies Cinnabar or processed lac; here likely Lacca / Dragon's Blood processed lac, "wash away fishy smell, stir-fry until smoke ceases"); Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus) (3 qian, salt-stir-fried); Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) (...); Chuan Shan Jia (Manis Squama) (prepared)... Remove separately... Wine also...
Jian Dan (from *Jisheng Bahui Fang*) treats external cold in the lower jiao. Blood and qi are blocked. Forming jia (masses). Hard, large, and persisting for a long time without resolving.
Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (4 qian, prepared, peel skin, remove navel); Gui Jian Yu (Euodiae Fructus / Araliae Spinae Ramulus? Text says Gui Jian Yu, usually Euodiae Fructus or specific branch; WHO term for Euodiae Fructus is Wu Zhu Yu, but Gui Jian Yu often refers to *Spatholobus* or *Euodia*. Given context of cold/blood stasis, likely *Euodiae Fructus* or similar warming blood breaker. Let's use *Euodiae Fructus* if distinct from Wu Zhu Yu, or *Spatholobi Caulis* if different. Standard TCM: Gui Jian Yu is often *Euodiae Fructus* or *Spatholobus*. In this formula context with Fu Zi/Rou Gui, it's likely a blood-moving herb. Let's stick to literal *Gui Jian Yu*); Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizoma), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each 2 qian); Zi Shi Ying (Quartzum Rubrum) (3 qian). Stir-fry until yellow, three... ten). Grind together into fine powder and mix...
Sansheng Wan (Three Holy Pills) treats ji xue (accumulated blood), zheng jia, kuai pi (masses and癖). Cases where various medicines have failed to cure.
Bo Shang Liu Huang (Sulfur imported from overseas) (1 liang); Shui Yin (Hydrargyrum) (0.5 liang); Sha (Realgar / Auripigmentum? Text says Sha, likely Shi Gao or similar mineral, but context with Liu Huang/Shui Yin suggests cinnabar or realgar. "Sha" alone often means Realgar or Cinnabar. Let's assume Realgar *Realgar* or Cinnabar *Cinnabaris*). These three substances are ground finely in a mortar like powder. Then placed in a raw iron pot. Next... half. Filter... Knot... Warm...
Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (0.5 liang); Zhen Pu Huang (Typhae Pollen); Yuan Hua (Genkwa Flos) (each 2 fen, stir-fried with vinegar until scorched yellow). Make into powder. Use previous paste to make pills the size of mung beans. Treat women's blood...
Zhishi Binglang Wan (from *Yifang Dacheng*) treats women's zheng jia. Masses resembling pregnancy. Taking this medicine nourishes fetal qi. Harmonizes menstruation. Promotes free flow of blood and qi.
Zhi Qiao (Aurantii Fructus, stir-fried, alternatively Zhishi); Bing Lang (Arecae Semen); Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma); Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, peeled); Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix); Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix); E Jiao (Colla Corii Asini) (stir-fried with clam powder, ground separately); Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) (each...).
Guizhi Fuling Wan (from *Jinkui Yaolue*) treats women who have had zheng jia masses previously. During pregnancy, menstruation stops for less than three months and then movement occurs. This is a zheng condition. Menstruation stopped for three months. At times... When menstruation was smooth in the first three months, the fetus... Zheng.
Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus, unroasted); Fu Ling (Poria); Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex); Tao Ren (Persicae Semen, peel and tip removed, bran-roasted); Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (equal parts). Make into powder. Refine honey to make pills the size of quail eggs.
Treats closure of the zi men (cervix). Blood accumulates in the abdomen. Generates flesh zheng. Caused by cold in the zang organs. Formula (from *Qianjin Fang*).
Gan Qi (Processed Lacca / Dragon's Blood) (0.5 jin); Sheng Di Huang Zhi (Rehmanniae Radix Juice) (3 jin); Sheng Niu Xi Zhi (Cyathulae Radix Juice) (1 jin). First pound the gan qi into powder, add to juice, stir. Simmer over low heat to make pills the size of paulownia seeds.
Treats sudden acute zheng. Stabbing pain in the abdomen. Crying day and night.
Use 2 jin of Niu Xi (Cyathulae Radix). Soak in 2 dou of wine. Seal tightly and warm in hot fire ash. Allow the flavor to extract. Take 5 he to 1 sheng according to strength. Administer strongly.
Treats zheng jia (from *Huato Zhongzangjing*).
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, wrapped in wet paper and baked); Sha (Mineral); San Leng (Sparganii Rhizoma, wrapped in wet paper, baked, cut finely while hot); Gan Qi (Processed Lacca, stir-fried until smoke ceases); Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus, peel removed, oil expressed... each 1... 1 liang 0.5 qian).
Treats various diseases of female small intestine zheng jia. (From *Bencao*).
