[Supplementary Discussion]
The condition of Pi (accumulation) with emaciation is caused by the disharmony of cold and warm influences, deficiency-cold of the Zang-Fu organs, failure to digest food, and the binding and accumulation of pathogenic factors with the Qi of the viscera.
If the body cannot be nourished for a long time,
the following formula should be taken:
Yangzhi Jian (Mutton Fat Decoction), sourced from *Shenghui Fang*, treats Pi Qi. Symptoms include emaciation of the four limbs, deficiency-heat vexation of the mind and spirit, dryness of the skin, and anorexia.
Ingredients:
Yangzhi (Mutton Fat, 1 sheng), Niuisui (Bovine Marrow, 1 sheng), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper, 1 liang, remove seeds and closed ones, stir-fry slightly to remove moisture), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 1 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Root, 1 liang, remove rhizome), Yuanzhi (Polygala Root, 0.5 liang, remove heart), Shengjiangzhi (Fresh Ginger Juice, 0.5 he), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1 liang, cut into pieces and stir-fry slightly), Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root, juice extracted, 1 sheng), Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit, 1 liang, soak in water seven times, dry-bake).
Process all ingredients into fine powder, mix evenly, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds using refined honey. Take 30 pills before meals with warm water.
Niuxi Wan (Achyranthes Pill), sourced from *Shenghui Fang*, treats Pi Qi. Symptoms include inability to eat, weakness, and emaciation.
Ingredients:
Niuxi (Achyranthes Root, 3 liang, remove sprouts), Shenggan Dihuang (Dried Rehmannia Root, 4 liang), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 1.5 liang, cut into pieces and stir-fry slightly), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 3 liang), Muxiang (Costus Root, 1 liang), Wuweizi (Schisandra Berry, 2 liang, stir-fry slightly, soak and remove white pith).
Process all ingredients into fine powder, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds using a paste made from wine-boiled flour. Take 30 pills before meals with rice soup.
Fuzi Wan (Aconite Pill), sourced from *Shenghui Fang*, treats Pi Qi. Symptoms include frequent vomiting of clear fluid, sallow complexion, distending pain in the heart and hypochondrium, anorexia, and emaciation of the four limbs. This formula is suitable.
Ingredients:
Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root, 4 liang, processed until cracked, remove skin and umbilicus), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 3 liang), Chenjuapi (Aged Tangerine Peel, 1 liang, soak in water, remove white pith, bake), Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit, 1 liang, soak in water seven times, dry-bake, remove moisture), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, 1 liang, remove bark).
