The anus is the external manifestation of the Large Intestine (Da Chang). When the Large Intestine is deficient and cold, its qi rushes downward, causing the anus to prolapse. In some cases, postpartum straining forces the qi to rush against the anus, also leading to prolapse.
Prescriptions:
For treating chronic deficiency-cold accumulation in the Large Intestine, where the anus prolapses with each bowel movement and cannot be retracted manually. (From *Da Quan Liang Fang*)
Take one liang of Snail (Wo Niu), remove the shell, grind it raw, mix with Pig Fat (Zhu Zhi), and apply externally. It heals immediately. *Yao Xing Lun* states: Snail has slight toxicity and can treat Large Intestine prolapse. Fan Wang's Prescription and Yao He Zhong's Prescription (both from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treat deficiency-cold of the Large Intestine in women, men, and children, resulting in anal prolapse.
Apply Iron Essence Powder (Tie Jing Fen) topically for good effect. *Sheng Hui Fang* also treats prolapse of the yin organ and yin swelling.
Ji Yan Fang (from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treats anal prolapse that has persisted for years without healing.
Take three jin of Raw Iron (Sheng Tie), add ten dou of water, boil until five sheng remain. Remove the iron and wash the affected area with the liquid twice a day.
Yao He Zhong's Prescription (from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treats anal prolapse due to dysentery in adults and children, and also treats vaginal prolapse after childbirth.
Burn Turtle Head Bone (Bie Tou Gu) to ash, grind into powder, and sprinkle on the affected area. Ri Hua Zi stated: Burning turtle head to ash treats anal prolapse; *Tu Jing Ben Cao* agrees with *Yao Xing Lun*. Applying blood from the turtle head to the prolapsed anus is also effective.
Sun Taoren's Prescription (from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treats anal prolapse where the rectum protrudes like a slice.
Take Toad Skin (Chan Ma Pi), burn it in a bottle, and fumigate the area with the smoke for immediate effect.

Regarding diarrhea in women, this refers to what the classics call Dong Xie (Cavity Diarrhea), Sun Xie (Undigested Food Diarrhea), Tang Xie (Loose Stool Diarrhea), Ru Xie (Damp Diarrhea), Wei Xie (Stomach Diarrhea), Da Jia Xie (Large Mass Diarrhea), Da Chang Xie (Large Intestine Diarrhea), Xiao Chang Xie (Small Intestine Diarrhea)... Prescriptions:
Mu Xiang San (Wood Fragrance Powder) (from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treats extreme cold in the zang-fu organs, long-term damage from cold exhaustion, mouth ulcers with pain accompanied by diarrhea, undigested rice and grain, and loss of taste.
Ingredients: Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Po Gu Zhi (Fructus Psoraleae, stir-baked), Liang Jiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma), Suo Sha Ren (Fructus Amomi Rotundus), Nong Bo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, processed), Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Ju Hong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma).
Usage: Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Take three tea-spoonfuls per dose. Avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods. If unable to tolerate cold medicine, add some fermented grain liquid (Jiang) and take warm. Physician Xie from Jiaxing obtained this prescription but found it cumbersome; he used only fermented grain liquid to stew pig liver, formed into pills the size of paulownia seeds, taken with millet broth (50 pills per dose), achieving similar efficacy. For acute diarrhea/dysentery, one dose suffices. Only heat patterns... [Text fragmentary] ...regarding the gatekeeping function, it relates to Liver Qi. Guarding below relates to Kidney Qi. When Liver Qi rebels and ascends, the lower jiao cannot control diarrhea and dysentery. The Kidney is the gate of the Stomach; if the gate is not secure, food and grain cannot be stored. If diarrhea/dysentery arises, the source may lie here. Treating solely with Spleen/Stomach herbs would be a grave error. Thus, taking Mu Xiang San cured him after several doses.
Gui Xiang Wan (Cinnamon Fragrance Pill) (from *Da Quan Liang Fang*) treats zang-fu deficiency combined with Cold-Damp-Wind pathogenic factors, leading to uncontrollable cold slippery diarrhea. Effective for elderly and deficient persons, even in critical conditions.
Ingredients: Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Rou Dou Kou (Myristicae Semen), Bai Fu Ling (Poria), Gui Xin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, roasted), Bai Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, roasted), Ding Xiang (Caryophylli Flos).
