Wait until the liquid is dry. Boil over high heat. If not fully concentrated, continue boiling. Stop when it reaches a paste-like consistency. Grind into a powder. Dig a pit one chi two cun deep. Pour water into it. Wait for the water to clarify, then take the clear water. Mix with sulfur powder. Do not add too much water. Boil in a pot until it resembles a paste. Then use an iron pot without fire underneath. Slowly stir-fry by placing fine sand and paper between the pot and the heat source. Drip sulfur onto the paper. It naturally turns jade-colored and shines brightly. This is called Yufen San (Jade Powder Powder). Grind finely. If making pills, form them like hemp seeds. Take on an empty stomach. Ten pills daily with salted water decoction. For powder administration, mix two zi (ancient weight unit) with salted water. Extremely effective. My fellow townsman Wang Zhaosui took this formula. At age ninety, his appearance was like a child's. His night vision for reading was double that of ordinary people.
Guiding Exercises (Dao Yin Fa)
Those learning health preservation must first sit upright. Knees together, feet together. Initially, toes face each other, heels outward. Sit comfortably. Heels must face inward toward each other. Toes outward. If feeling stuffy or painful, gradually relax the body as if entertaining guests. Sit on the feet. When pain subsides similar to sitting with heels inward, place both heels upward on the toes, extending outward. Practice this regularly while sitting. It dispels cold wind from the Bladder channel, knee coldness, foot pain, rebellious Qi, and lower back pain, allowing them to resolve spontaneously.
Another method (from Wei Shi Fang) treating lower back pain.
Sit facing due East. Hands embracing the heart area. One person presses both knees from the front. Another supports the head from behind. Gently pull to lie supine. Head touches ground three times rising and lying down. The condition resolves.
One method treating unbearable lower back pain in men and women.
Use "Zuo You Dai Yan Suo" at Taiyang point. Lie extended flat. Grind paper. If left side, use right; grind into nose. If right side, use left. Flowing nasal mucus indicates efficacy. Rise and walk once comfortable.
The Kidney governs the waist and legs. If Kidney deficiency occurs, cold Qi invades, causing lower back pain. Additionally, pathogenic factors lodging in the collaterals of the Foot-Taiyang channel cause lower back pain, radiating to the lower abdomen, making extension and breathing difficult. Palpation of the Chi pulse being sinking indicates lower back pain. Weak Cun Kou pulse indicates lower back pain. Floating pulses at both Cun and Chi extending vertically indicate Du Mai (Governing Vessel) lower back pain. There are five types of lower back pain. First, Shao-Yin Kidney type. In the tenth month, Yang Qi of all things declines, causing lower back pain. Second, Feng-Bi (Wind Bi syndrome). Wind-cold adhering to the waist causes pain. Third, Kidney deficiency. Overwork damages the Kidney, causing pain. Fourth, April lower back pain, or injury from falling, causing pain. Fifth, sleeping on damp ground, causing pain. Hence, the term "Five Types of Lower Back Pain."
