The kidneys manifest in the ears. Excessive labor and injury lead to deficiency of Kidney Qi (Kidney Energy). When Wind Pathogen (Feng Xie) invades the Kidney Meridian, it causes deafness and tinnitus. If stagnant water accumulates in the Bladder and infiltrates the Kidneys, it also results in deafness and tinnitus.
Formulas:
Cishi Wan (Magnetite Pill): Treats weakness of the Kidneys due to Deficiency Consumption (Xu Lao). Symptoms include deafness or hearing sounds such as bells, chimes, wind, and rain. It is suitable for tonifying Kidney deficiency.
Ingredients: Cishi (Magnetitum, 2 liang, calcined until red, quenched seven times in vinegar, crushed, ground, and processed by water flotation); Lurong (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum, 1.5 liang, hair removed, coated with butter, roasted until slightly yellow); Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, rhizomes removed); Huangqi (Astragali Radix, sliced); Baifuling (Poria, each 1 liang); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, heart removed); Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by processing, skin and navel removed); Muli (Ostreae Concha, each 0.3 liang, calcined into powder); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 1 liang, sprouts removed); Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 0.3 liang, rhizome removed); Chushizi (Broussonetiae Fructus, 1.5 liang, floated impurities washed away, dried by baking); Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus, 0.5 liang); Shuyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma); Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, each 0.3 liang); Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, 1 liang, roots removed, sliced); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 0.2 liang); Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 1 liang); Roubingrong (Cistanches Herba, 0.3 liang, soaked in wine overnight, coarse skin scraped off, roasted dry).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Mix with refined honey, pound 300-500 times, and form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take on an empty stomach and before evening meal, administered with Bushen Tang (Kidney-Tonifying Decoction).
Bushen Tang (Kidney-Tonifying Decoction): Treats Kidney damage due to Deficiency Consumption. Symptoms include deafness, emaciation, weakness and pain in the feet and knees.
Ingredients: Cishi (Magnetitum, 2 liang, crushed, washed in water to remove red juice); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, sprouts removed); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, each 1 liang); Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1.5 liang, sliced); Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, rhizomes removed); Baifuling (Poria); Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix); Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma); Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix); Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba); Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 1 liang); Baijili (Tribuli Fructus, 1 liang, lightly stir-fried to remove spines); Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, cracked by processing, skin and navel removed); Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 1 liang); Hanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, 1 liang, eyes and closed pods removed, lightly stir-fried to release oil).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. For each dose, take one pair of Sheep Kidney, remove the fatty membrane. Boil the kidney in 1.5 large bowls of water until reduced to 1 bowl. Remove the kidney, add 0.5 liang of the herbal powder, and decoct until reduced to 0.6 parts. Strain... Roubingrong Wan (Cistanche Pill): Treats deafness caused by insufficiency of Kidney Qi due to Deficiency Consumption.
Ingredients: Roubingrong (Cistanches Herba, 1 liang, soaked in wine overnight, coarse skin scraped off, roasted dry); Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1 liang, sliced); Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata); Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, each 1 liang); Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, 0.3 liang, bran-roasted until slightly yellow, pith removed); Bailian (Iridis Tectorii Rhizoma); Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus); Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 0.3 liang); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 1 liang, sprouts removed); Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, cracked by processing, skin and navel removed); Muli Fen (Ostreae Concha Powder, 0.3 liang); Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 1 liang); Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, 0.3 liang, cracked by processing, sliced); Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, 2 liang, soaked in wine for three days, sun-dried, separately ground into powder).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Mix with refined honey, pound 300-500 times, and form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach and before evening meal, washed down with warm wine.
Baiyangrou Tang (White Goat Meat Decoction): Treats Deficiency Consumption characterized by emaciation, weakness in feet and knees, deafness, night sweats, and frequent palpitations.
Ingredients: Baiyangrou (White Goat Meat, 2 jin, remove fatty membrane, boil in 4 sheng of water to obtain 2 sheng); Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, 1 liang, remove coarse skin, roast until slightly yellow, slice); Baifuling (Poria, 1 liang); Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 1 liang, slice); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, sprouts removed); Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, rhizomes removed); Huangqi (Astragali Radix, sliced); Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 1 liang); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, 0.3 liang); Cishi (Magnetitum, 3 liang, crushed, washed in water to remove red juice); Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi, 1 liang); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, 1 liang, heart removed).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct in 1 medium bowl of goat meat broth until reduced to 0.6 parts. Strain and take warm before meals.
Dihuang San (Rehmannia Powder): Treats deafness and deficiency tinnitus due to Deficiency Consumption.
Ingredients: Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 1 liang); Cishi (Magnetitum, 2 liang, crushed, washed in water to remove red juice); Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 0.3 liang, rhizome removed); Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 0.3 liang); Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1 liang, sliced); Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba); Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, sliced); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, each 0.3 liang); Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang, rhizomes removed).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. For each dose, take one pair of Sheep Kidney, remove the fatty membrane. Boil in 1.5 large bowls of water until reduced to 1 bowl. Remove the kidney, add 5 qian of herbal powder, and decoct until reduced to 0.6 parts. Strain. Divide into two warm doses, taken on an empty stomach and before evening meal.
Changpu Jiu Fang (Calamus Infused Wine Formula): Treats deafness due to Deficiency Consumption.
Ingredients: Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, 0.3 liang); Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, 2 liang, sliced); Cishi (Magnetitum, 5 liang, crushed, washed in water to remove red juice); Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, rhizome removed); Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex, each 3 liang); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 3 liang, sprouts removed).
Preparation and Administration: Finely slice the above ingredients. Place in a raw silk bag, immerse in one bottle of wine, and steep for seven days. Warm and drink a small cup before each meal daily.
