[Supplementary Discussion]
Lougu disease (Antlion-like nodule) arises from consuming fruits containing parasites without discrimination. This leads to the obstruction of external meridians and internal intestines. When toxins are not expelled, they transform into this pathology. Initially, it manifests on the upper neck, resembling a蜗形瘾疹 (snail-shaped urticarial rash). The root of the disease lies in the Large Intestine.
Prescriptions
Renzi Jiegeng Wan (Cassia Seed and Platycodon Pill, from *Qianjin Fang*): Treats Lougu disease. It initially appears on the neck and nape, presenting as swelling. This results from ingesting toxic fruits or melons where the toxin remains unexpelled. The root is in the Large Intestine. Cassia seed (Renzi) serves as the principal herb, while Platycodon root (Jiegeng) acts as an assistant.
Ingredients: Cassia seed (Renzi), Dragon bone (Longgu) (each 0.5 liang); Aconite root lateralis preparata (Fuzi) (1 liang); Sichuan pepper (Shujiao) (100 grains); Cinnamon twig heart (Guixin); Platycodon root (Jiegeng); Dried ginger (Ganjiang); Alum (Fanshi); Angelica pubescens root (Duhuo); Ligusticum wallichii rhizome (Xiongqiong) (each 0.1 liang). Process all ingredients into fine powder. Combine with ten jujubes, pound together, and mix with vinegar water to form pills the size of beans. Take five pills with warm grain water, gradually increasing to ten pills.
Danshen San (Salvia Powder, from *Shenghui Fang*): Treats Lougu disease occurring at the nape, characterized by hard swelling and pain.
Ingredients: Salvia miltiorrhiza root (Danshen) (2 liang); Dioscorea hypoglauca rhizome (Shuodie) (2 liang); Licorice root (Gancao) (0.5 liang, roasted until slightly red and cut); Gastrodia elata rhizome (Qinjiao) (1 liang, remove sprouts); Angelica pubescens root (Duhuo) (1 liang); Arctium lappa seed (Niubangzi) (1 liang); Rhododendron molle flower (Zhizhu hua) (0.5 liang); Sichuan pepper (Chuanjiao) (0.5 liang, remove eyes and closed-mouth ones, stir-fry lightly to release moisture); Achyranthes bidentata root (Niuxi) (1 liang, remove sprouts). Cut the herbs. For each dose, take 3 qian, add one cup of water, decoct until six-tenths remain, strain. Take on an empty stomach daily and before evening meals.
Guixin Wan (Cinnamon Twig Heart Pill, from *Shenghui Fang*): Treats Lougu disease causing pain and purulent discharge.
Ingredients: Cinnamon twig heart (Guixin) (0.1 liang); Astragalus membranaceus root (Huangqi) (0.5 liang, cut); Calcined alum (Fanshi) (burned to ash, ground fine, 0.1 liang); Ligusticum wallichii rhizome (Xiongqiong) (0.1 liang); Rhubarb (Dahuang) (0.5 liang, cut and stir-fried lightly); Bird beak (Wuzhuo) (0.5 liang, processed, tail removed); Sichuan pepper (Chuanjiao) (100 grains, remove eyes and closed-mouth ones, stir-fry lightly to release moisture); Tiger neck bone (Hu Jinggu) (0.5 liang, coated with butter, roasted yellow). Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. Take two pills with warm grain water on an empty stomach and before evening meals.
Tingchang San (Tingchang Powder, from *Shenghui Fang*): Treats Lougu disease.
Ingredients: Tingchang (six specimens, remove head, feet, wings; stir-fry with glutinous rice until yellow); Rhubarb (Dahuang) (0.5 liang, cut and stir-fried lightly); Asarum (Xixin) (0.5 liang); Cinnamon twig heart (Guixin) (0.1 liang); Pangolin scales (Lingqi) (1 liang, roasted until slightly yellow); Insect feces from maple tree (Fengshu zhong chongfen) (two finger-pinches). Grind into fine powder. Take 1 qian mixed with warm wine on an empty stomach, and repeat before evening meals.
Machixian Gao (Purslane Ointment): Treats Lougu disease.
Method (from *Shenghui Fang*): Burn oak leaves (Huye) to ash and grind finely. Soak oak leaves separately in rice washing water to extract juice for washing the sore. Dry the area, then apply a small amount of the ash directly into the wound.
