Broken-wind (Tetanus), stubborn leprosy, hidden wind, and lateral wind should all be treated by administering one to two pills with Doulin Jiu (Bean淋 Wine). Efficacy will be seen immediately. For men suffering from Yuan Zang Qi pain (pain due to dysfunction of the primal organ) with cramping and unbearable pain below the umbilicus, take one Areca Nut (Binglang), grind half of it in wine, add a little fresh ginger juice, decoct together for five to seven boils, crush and take two pills. After a moment, stir-fry wheat bran with vinegar until hot and apply as a compress to the area below the umbilicus; the pain will cease. To treat Pi Qi (accumulation disorder) where spasms cause the knees to touch each other, take one Areca Nut (Binglang), grind half in wine, add a little fresh ginger juice, decoct together for five to seven boils, divide the liquid into two parts. Use half raw (unheated/original state) and half roasted until yellow. Take with one cup of warm wine. This method can only treat diseases above the waist; if the disease is below the waist, the medicinal power will not reach. It can be taken three times to cure. Another prescription for waist diseases adds Santalum Album (Haitongpi), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), and Red Peony Root (Chishaoyao), two liang of each. If the disease is below the waist, take before meals; if above the waist, take after meals. Another formula adds dried Scorpion (Ganxie), stir-fried, one and a half liang.
Baihua She Wan (White Flower Snake Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats all types of wind disorders.
White Flower Snake Meat (San liang, soaked in wine and roasted until slightly yellow), Silkworm Moth (Weichao - lightly stir-fried), Arisaema Cum Bile (Paolie - processed until cracked), White Stiff Silkworm (Weichao - lightly stir-fried), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Cinnamon Twig Heart (Guixin), Dioscorea Hypoglauca (Bixie - chopped), Ligusticum Wallichii (Ben), Aconite Carmandi (Fuzi - processed, peel skin and navel removed), Aconitum Carmichaelii Deaux (Baifuzi - processed), Gastrodia Elata (Tianma), Notopterygium incisum (Qianghuo), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Xiong), Saposhnikovia Divaricata (Fangfeng - remove radicle). Each of the above ingredients is one liang. Pound and sieve into powder, mix with refined honey, pound 300-200 times, make pills the size of paulownia seeds. Every night before bed, take ten pills with hot wine. Cover thickly with clothes and blankets, do not allow ventilation. To ensure the medicinal power is working, sweat should appear shortly. If no sweat occurs, repeat the previous dosage until sweating occurs. Avoid wind exposure.
Tianliaomu Jian (Tianliao Wood Decoction) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats all types of wind disorders.
Polygonum Multiflorum Vine (Tianliaomu), Gastrodia Elata (Chijian), Angelica Pubescens (Duhuo), Saposhnikovia Divaricata (Fangfeng - remove radicle), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Xiong), Epimedium (Xianlingpi), Achyranthes Bidentata (Niuxi - remove seedhead), Aconitum Kusnezoffii (Tianxiong - peel skin and navel removed), Cornus Officinalis (Shanzhuyu), Morinda Officinalis (Baji), Dioscorea Hypoglauca (Bixie - chopped), Cibotium Barometz (Yinyu), Santalum Album (Haitongpi - chopped), Cinnamon Twig Heart (Guixin), Agarwood (Chenxiang). Each of the above is one liang. Pound and sieve into powder, mix with five he of white honey, simmer slowly in a silver pot, stir constantly with a willow spatula until the consistency is appropriate. Store in porcelain vessels. Take one tea spoon mixed with warm wine each time. Take on an empty stomach and before evening meal.
Chen Nong Gao (Chen Nong Ointment) [from *Yuyao Yuanfang*]: Treats wind-induced spasm and pain, numbness and insensitivity, wind itching, scabies and tinea, abdominal pain, and accumulations.
Angelica Sinensis (Danggui - sliced, three liang), Cinnabar (Zhusha - ground and washed), Asarum Europaeum (Xixin - remove soil), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong - each two liang), Aconitum Kusnezoffii (Tianxiong - two liang two zhu), Aconite Carmandi (Fuzi - twelve zhu, chopped finger-nail size), Cinnamon Bark (Gui - remove rough bark, one liang two zhu), Pine Resin (Songzhi - half jin), Realgar (Xionghuang - three liang two zhu), Dried Ginger (Ganjiang [three liang seventeen zhu]), Rice Vinegar (Mi cu - two sheng), Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi - finely chopped, two liang), Fresh Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang - two jin, crushed to extract juice), Pig Lard (Zhufangzhi - ten jin, remove fascia, cut into finger-sized pieces). Soak nine herbs in Rehmannia juice and rice vinegar overnight. Boil together with lard. After fifteen boils, the ointment is ready. Filter through new cotton to remove dregs. Add Realgar and Cinnabar, stir until evenly solidified. Strictly avoid letting children, women, or livestock see it. Apply a small amount to the affected area until heat penetrates. Also treats darkened and emaciated face and body caused by cold accumulation in heart and abdomen; take half a spoon mixed with wine, three times daily, without fail to cure. Another formula includes Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Chuanwu).
Duhuo Xusheng Tang (Duhuo and Rehmannia Decoction) [from *Yuyao Yuanfang*]: Treats sudden stroke with loss of consciousness, gradual hemiplegia, deviation of mouth and eyes, trembling of hands and feet, painful joints unable to turn, and various wind disorders. Effective for all. Also treats foot weakness from gout; long-term use leads to recovery. For chronic wind patients, take beforehand during cloudy weather or seasonal changes to prevent stroke.
Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang - remove root and nodes), Ginseng Radix (Renshen - remove radicle), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Paeoniae Radix (Shaoyao), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Xiong), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao - chopped), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren - remove skin and tip, stir-fry until yellow), Cinnamon Twig (Guizhi), Saposhnikovia Radix (Fangfeng) (each one liang), Aconite Carmandi (Fuzi [processed, peel skin and navel removed, half liang]), Podocarpus Macrophyllus (Fangji - half liang), White Flower Snake Meat (Baihuashe Rou), Angelica Pubescens (Duhuo), Dried Scorpion (Ganxie) (each three qian). Make coarse powder. Take three qian each time, with one and a half cups of water, add five slices of fresh ginger, decoct to one cup, remove dregs, take slightly warm before meals.
Jiandaogu Wan (Scissor-leg Pill): Treats all wind disorders.
Poria (Baifuling - two liang), Yam (Shanyu - half liang), Gastrodia Elata (Tianma - half liang), Saposhnikovia Radix (Fangfeng - two liang), Whole Scorpion (Quanxie - half liang), Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo - one and a half liang), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong - one liang), Licorice Root (Gancao [two liang]), Ophiopogon Tuber (Maimendong - half liang), Iron Powder (Tieyanfen - two and a half qian), Aconitum Carmichaelii Deaux (Baifuzi - half liang), Stiff Silkworm (Jiangcan - two qian), Saposhnikovia Radix (Fangfeng).
Soaking Wine Formula [from Desheng Tang]:
Saposhnikovia Radix (Fangfeng), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao), Poria (Baifuling), Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo), Achyranthes Bidentata (Niuxi), Ginseng Radix (Renshen) (each one and a half liang), Summer Silkworm Sand (Xiaccansha - clear ones, one liang), Turtle Shell (Biejia - roasted), Western Goji Berry (Xigouqi [each two and a half liang]), Xanthium Fruit (Canger), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Pine Joint (Songjie), Tiger Bone (Hugu - prepared with butter, each one liang), Eggplant Root (Qiegen [four roots, steamed on rice steamer]). Chop into one dose, place in raw silk bag, soak in two large bottles of good wine. Open after fourteen days. Drink one cup morning, noon, and night. When wine is finished, dry the dregs, grind into powder, make pills with wine paste, size of paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills with wine, anytime.

White Flower Snake Meat [soaked in wine two liang, roasted slightly yellow], Stiff Silkworm (Baijiangcan - one liang, lightly stir-fried), Moschus (Shexiang [one liang, finely ground]), Cinnabar (Zhusha - one liang, finely ground), Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo - two liang), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao - one liang, remove seedhead), Aconite Carmandi (Fuzi - one liang, processed, peel skin and navel removed), Cinnamon Twig Heart (Guixin - one liang), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui - one liang), Achyranthes Bidentata (Niuxi - one liang, remove seedhead), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Xiong - one liang), Dioscorea Hypoglauca (Bixie - one liang, lightly stir-fried), Dried Scorpion (Ganxie - one liang, lightly stir-fried), Saposhnikovia Radix (Fangfeng - one liang, remove radicle).

Also treats lateral and frontal headaches affecting eyes.

Da Fangfeng Tang (Great Saposhnikovia Decoction) [from *Yifang Jicheng*]: Dispels wind and regulates qi, invigorates blood and strengthens sinews and bones, dispels cold-dampness and drives out cold qi. Effective for monks like Master Sun Suiliang who suffered from post-dysentery leg pain and weakness preventing walking, named Li Feng (Dysentery Wind). Or swollen and painful knees, with thighs and calves wasted to skin and bone, spasmodic lying inability to bend or stretch, named Crane Knee Wind. Taking this promotes smooth qi and blood, regenerates muscle, restores normal walking. Truly miraculous.

Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang - chopped), Viticis Fructus (Manjingzi) (each one liang), Cinnamon Bark (Gui - remove rough bark), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang - remove root and nodes, boil in water, skim foam, each two liang), Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo - remove radicle), Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Xiong) (each one and a half liang), Podocarpus Macrophyllus (Fangji), Aconitum Carmichaelii Deaux (Baifuzi - processed, each two and a half liang), Realgar (Xionghuang - ground), Azurite (Kongqing - ground, each half liang), Calomelas (Nifen - ground), Moschus (Shexiang - ground, each five fen), White Flower Snake (Baihuashe - soak in wine, remove skin and bone, roast dry, three liang). Make powder, pill with refined honey, size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills each time, soak with warm wine. After taking, drink three cups of wine, cover with clothes until sweating like peach gum. Then take seven pills each time. Cure in forty-nine days.
Xianlingpi Jian (Epimedium Decoction) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats all wind disorders.
Epimedium (Xianlingpi - one jin, finely cut, boil in seven sheng of wine until three sheng remain, filter dregs, add following powders), Aconite Carmandi (Fuzi - two liang, processed, peel skin and navel removed), Cinnamon Bark (Rougui - two liang, remove wrinkled bark), Red Peony Root (Chishaoyao), Achyranthes Bidentata (Niuxi - remove seedhead), Deer Antler Glue (Luajiao - crushed, roasted until slightly dry), Dioscorea Hypoglauca (Bixie - chopped), Eleutherococcus Senticosus (Wujiapi), Ziziphus Jujuba Seed (Suanzaoren), Dendrobium Stem (Shihu - remove root, chop), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Costus Root (Muxiang), Frankincense (Ruxiang) (each one liang). Pound and sieve into powder. Put the previous decoction in a silver pot, add white honey five he, then add herb powders. Simmer slowly, stir constantly with willow spatula until consistency is right. Gastrodia Elata (Tianma - remove seedhead, twenty liang), Sichuan Aconite (Chuanwu - processed, peel skin and navel removed), Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu - remove seedhead, wash, dry), Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen - wash, dry) (each ten liang). Make fine powder. Dissolve honey in a little water, put in stone pot, simmer slowly stirring into thick paste, cool. Add following herbs.
