[White Fructus Tamaricis and Arecae Semen Formula]
Bai Wuti (Fructus Tamaricis), Binglang (Arecae Semen) (each 1 liang).
The above two herbs are ground into a fine powder. Pills are made using steamed wheat dumpling dough, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Each dose consists of 15 to 20 pills, taken with warm water.
This formula expels parasites, alleviates consumptive disease (Lao), and nourishes the skin and complexion.
[Binglang, Dry Resin of Pinus Massoniana Formula]
Binglang (Arecae Semen) (1.5 liang), Ganxi (Resina Taxodi, burned until smoke ceases) (0.5 liang), Longdan (Radix Gentianae) (1 liang).
The above three herbs are ground into a fine powder. Pills are made using refined honey, sized like Sophora japonica seeds. Each dose consists of 10 to 15 pills, taken with boiled and cooled water.
[Cinnabar Ash Formula]
Each dose uses 4 qian of Cinnabar Ash (Qianliuhui). First, consume a small amount of dried pork jerky. After one shichen (two hours), mix the ash with half a zhan of strong sugar water and take it during the wu geng period (early morning, 3-5 AM). The parasites will be completely expelled. For the following day, maintain the condition by consuming white rice congee. The *Liang Fang* treats Taenia saginata (Cunbai Chong) using Xisha (Stibnite), Wuti, and Binglang; this is highly effective.
During the Xuanhe era, I often felt a sense of discomfort and irritation in my heart. I initially attributed it to drinking water, but later suspected it was caused by parasites. I casually followed the prescription method from *Liang Fang*. The next day, I expelled two worms. One was 2 chi 5 cun long, with a flat and wide head and a sharp tail. It was segmented every cun, with patterns resembling brocade. One worm consisted entirely of these one-cun segments. The *Qianjin Fang* states: "Excessive labor generates heat; heat generates parasites." The heart parasite is called Ascaris (Hui); the spleen parasite is Taenia saginata (Cunbai); the kidney parasite resembles cut silk threads of one cun length; the liver parasite resembles rotten apricots; the lung parasite resembles silkworms. All five types of parasites can cause death, but the lung parasite is the most urgent. The lung parasite resides within the lung lobes, eroding the lung system, thus forming Zhai Ji (consumptive disease/Tuberculosis), characterized by hemoptysis and hoarseness. Medicines cannot easily reach this location, making treatment difficult. Some say that the *Daozang* records that the heads of all parasites move downward, except between the 1st and 5th days of the lunar month when they move upward. Therefore, practitioners often administer medication before the 5th day. This likely refers to this phenomenon.
[Pomegranate Root Juice Formula]
Xisha (Antimonii Sulfidum, prepared as silver mud; if unavailable, use Huangdan/Minium substituted), Wuyi Ren (Semen Tamaricis), Binglang (Arecae Semen) (the latter two in equal parts, ground into powder).
Decoct the concentrated juice of Pomegranate Root (Radix Granati) to obtain half a sheng. Add three qian of the powder or five pills. Take at midnight; the parasites will be expelled the following morning.
[Treatment for Feishi, Dunshi, and Fengshi]
To treat Feishi (Flying Corpse Parasite): Its pathogen wanders through the skin and penetrates the zang-fu organs. Each attack causes stabbing pain and unpredictable changes.
To treat Dunshi (Hidden Corpse Parasite): The pathogen attaches to bones and enters muscles, attacking blood vessels. Each attack causes severe suffering, and others should not approach the patient. Seeing funerals or hearing mourning cries can trigger an attack.
To treat Fengshi (Wind Corpse Parasite): The pathogen invades the four limbs, causing loss of sensation regarding the location of pain. Each attack results in drowsiness and lethargy.
Chop several hu of Hedysarum Multijugum leaves (Rendong Ye), decoct to obtain concentrated juice, and further reduce by boiling. Take one pill-sized portion (size of a chicken egg) per dose, three times daily. Taiyi Shenjing Dan and Suhe Xiang Wan are the premier formulas for treating these conditions.
