Shunqi Muxiang San (Smooth-Qi Costus Root Powder) is indicated for disorders of Qi ascending and descending, presenting with vomiting, regurgitation, nausea, a sensation of fullness and obstruction in the chest and diaphragm, distension and stifling in the hypochondrium, as well as injuries caused by alcohol and food. It addresses belching, acid regurgitation, stabbing pain in the heart and spleen, irregular bowel movements, sallow complexion with emaciation, and anorexia. It also treats stabbing pain due to blood and Qi disorders in women, and all types of cold Qi causing cramping pain around the umbilicus.
Ingredients: Galangae Rhizoma (Liangjiang, remove rhizome base, stir-fry), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Ganjiang, processed), Foeniculi Fructus (Huixiang, stir-fry), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi, remove white pith), Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Suosha), Cinnamomi Cortex (Rougui, remove rough bark, do not expose to fire directly), Eugeniae Caryophyllati Cortex (Dingpi, do not expose to fire directly), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, remove rhizome base, stir-fry), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Nongpo, remove rough bark, process with ginger juice), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Cangzhu, soak in rice wash water), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, honey-fried). All ingredients are used in equal proportions.
To prepare Heqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder), omit Ganjiang, Dingpi, and Nongpo, and add Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfuzi) and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi).
Process the above ingredients into a fine powder. For administration, take 2 qian per dose. Decoct with one sheng of water, three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), and two dates (Zao). Simmer until eight-tenths of the liquid remains. Take slightly warm at any time. Alternatively, add a pinch of salt and administer with boiling water. Regular use helps to soothe the middle jiao and harmonize the stomach.
Indicated for Fanwei (Revolving Stomach, characterized by vomiting undigested food after a period of retention).
Select one very large Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata). Place it on a brick and apply heat from all four sides gradually until hot. Quench it in fresh juice extracted from Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang). Repeat the heating and quenching process until approximately half a bowl of ginger juice is consumed. Dry the Fuzi by baking and grind it into powder. Take 2 qian per dose. Decoct with one sheng of water and a small amount of Setaria Italica (Sumi). Simmer until seven-tenths of the liquid remains. Usually, no more than three doses are required.
Take one large Crucian Carp (Dajiyu). Remove the internal organs but retain the gallbladder. Fill the cavity with powdered Vitriolum Viride (Lvfan, Chalcanthum) and seal the opening. Roast over charcoal fire until yellow and dry, then grind into powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with aged rice decoction (Chenmi Yin). Administer three times daily.
Stops vomiting and unblocks the diaphragm.

Cut the above ingredients finely. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one and a half shengs of water and seven slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang). Simmer over gentle heat until seven-tenths of the liquid remains. Strain the decoction, add 0.5 qian of Arecae Semen (Binglang) powder, mix well, and take. This is a formula from Elder Pang.
Indicated for frequent vomiting after eating, which may develop into Fanwei (Revolving Stomach).
Ingredients: Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Fuling, remove skin, all in equal proportions).
