Treats various types of carbuncles, swellings, and "Fabei" (large-scale abscesses on the back).
Zhaomu Ye (Leaf of Quercus variabilis, four taels, dried) Ganheye (Dried Lotus Leaf) Jinying Gen (Root of Hemerocallis citrina, also known as Daylily) Gancao Jie (Nodes of Licorice Root) Diyü (Root of Sanguisorba officinalis, one tael each)
All ingredients are coarsely chopped and pounded to prepare a decoction powder. Each dose is half a tael, boiled with two bowls of water until reduced to one bowl. Divide into two doses, taken in the morning and evening respectively; the dregs are also boiled again for another dose. If pus and blood have drained, they will dry naturally; if not yet formed, they will resolve spontaneously. Avoid toxic foods.
Huangming Jiao (Yellow Clear Gelatin, one tael) is dissolved in half a sheng of water. Add Huangdan (Lead Tetroxide, one tael), boil for three to five times, then allow to cool. Apply to the wound using a chicken feather brush.
If the swelling has not yet suppurated, apply it to the swollen area, and it will resolve spontaneously.
Alleviates pain caused by carbuncles and sores.
Take the central part of dried Heaye (Lotus Leaf) that resembles a coin, quantity unspecified, and grind into coarse powder. Use three spoons per dose, add two bowls of water, simmer slowly until reduced to one and a half bowls. Let it cool slightly, wash the affected area, pat dry, and apply Taibai Gao (White Jade Ointment).
Heaye (Lotus Leaf, one tael) and Ben Cao (Angelica dahurica, half a tael) are ground into fine powder and used as described above.
Hanshuishi (Calcitum, processed by water flotation) is mixed with Zhu Zhi (Pig Fat from the twelfth lunar month) to form an ointment. Spread thinly on paper according to the size of the sore and apply externally.
Hengwen Gancao (Licorice Root with transverse wrinkles, one jin) is broken and crushed. Soak in one dou of water for two nights (one night in summer). Filter through fine silk to remove dregs. Boil down in silver or earthenware vessels over slow fire until it becomes a paste. Divide into three doses. Take each dose with half a sheng of warm wine upon onset of symptoms. Adjust the number of doses based on the patient's age.
Promotes spontaneous rupture of Fabei (Back Abscess).
Mian Huangqi (Astragalus membranaceus, select tender roots, wash, dry-roast, one tael) Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, half a tael) Zaojiao Ci (Spine of Gleditsia sinensis, select red-purple ones, chop, stir-fry with bran until yellow, one tael)
Grind all into fine powder. Each dose is one large qian, decocted with one zhan of wine and a piece of Ruxiang (Boswellia carterii resin) until reduced to seventy percent. Strain and take warm. Adding Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) and Chishaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), half a tael each, enhances efficacy and speed.
Supports the interior and expels pus.
Zaojiao Ci (Spine of Gleditsia sinensis, quantity unspecified, select thick and purple ones)
Store in a bottle, seal tightly with salt mud, burn over charcoal fire until "preserving nature" (charred but retaining medicinal properties), cool, and grind into fine powder. Each dose is one qian, taken with slightly warm thin wine. In summer months, take with aged rice water.
