Realgar (Xiong Huang) has been used to treat sores and ulcers for a long time. The *Rites of Zhou* records that ulcer doctors use "five toxins" to attack sores. Zheng Kangcheng's annotation states: Current medical formulas combine five toxic drugs, placing Realgar (Xiong Huang) among Shidan (Stibnite), Dansha (Cinnabar), Ci Huang (Orpiment), Kong Qing (Chrysocolla), and Ci Shi (Magnetite), burning them for three days and nights. The smoke rises and adheres to objects; it is collected with a chicken feather and applied to the sore, covered with an inverted pot to promote suppuration and drainage. This is Cui Yuanliang's Hai Shang Fang. It treats all types of heart pain, whether new or old. Use raw Rehmannia Root (Sheng Di Huang) alone, extract juice according to the patient's food intake, mix with flour to make noodles or cold wheat jelly. After some time, worms about one chi long should be discharged, with heads resembling geckos, after which the disease will not recur. This is Liu Yuxi's *Zhuan Xin Fang*. In the tenth year of Zhenyuan, the daughter of Cui Kang, Tongshi Sheren, suffered from heart pain nearly causing death. She ate Rehmannia cold wheat jelly and vomited a substance about one cun square, resembling a toad, without eyes or feet, but seemingly having a mouth, likely caused by this creature. She recovered instantly thereafter. Salt must be avoided in the dough.
Wang Ji, Langzhong of Xiazhou in the Tang Dynasty, served as Judge for the Western Route Pacification Commissioner. Riding a mule into Luogu Valley, his chronic hemorrhoids flared up severely. The station master said: I once had this illness; moxibustion is required for cure. Decoct Sophora Branch (Huai Zhi) thickly, wash the hemorrhoids first, then apply moxa cones for 3-5 moxibustions. Suddenly, a stream of heat entered the intestine, leading to massive diarrhea, first blood then feces, extremely painful. After defecation, the cucumber-like mass disappeared, and he rode away swiftly.
