Method 1: On the blue veins located three cun lateral to both sides of Guanyuan (CV4), moxibustion of seven moxa cones (zhuang) will result in a cure. Moxa the left side for left-sided ailments and the right side for right-sided ailments; this method is verified effective.
Method 2: Instruct the patient to close their mouth. Use a straw to measure the distance between the two corners of the mouth horizontally as one segment. Add two more such segments to make a total of three segments. Bend these into a triangle shape resembling "△". Place the upper vertex at the center of the umbilicus, and the two lower vertices on either side below the umbilicus. The locations where the two lower vertices fall are the acupoints. For left-sided ailments, moxa the right point; for right-sided ailments, moxa the left point. If both sides are affected, moxa both points. Use moxa cones the size of wheat grains, applying fourteen or twenty-one cones until the patient feels relieved.
First, Lanmen Acupoint: Located three cun lateral to both sides of the root of the penis. Needle depth is one and half cun; apply seven moxa cones. It treats testicular swelling and herniation (wood kidney and unilateral descent). Note: This is the extra point Zhongquanyin. *Qianjin Yifang* states: Three cun lateral to Henggu (KI11), it treats unilateral enlargement of the testes; apply one hundred moxa cones, repeated multiple times.
Second, Wailing Acupoint: Located one and half cun to the left and right of the umbilicus. Moxibustion here yields immediate results for treating hernia, preventing recurrence permanently, and has been repeatedly verified effective.
Third, Fengshi Acupoint (GB31): Located seven cun above the knee, between the two tendons on the lateral side. Another method for locating it: Stand upright with body straight, let both hands hang naturally along the thighs; the depression at the tip of the middle finger is the point. Needle depth is five fen; apply seven moxa cones. *Qianjin Fang* states: Apply one hundred moxa cones; for severe cases, apply five to six hundred cones. It treats hernia qi, external genital swelling, small intestine qi pain, and empty rumbling in the abdomen. It is a key acupoint for treating wind-bi pain.
