Cold pathogen originates from the extremities. The tongue coating is white, and there is a sensation of fullness and oppression in the epigastrium. Treatment should focus on warming the Spleen Yang (Spleen Yang).
Caoguo Ren (Tsaoko Fruit Seed), Zhi Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root Lateralis), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger Rhizome), Bai Fuling (Poria), Wumei Rou (Mume Seed), Guangpi (Tangerine Peel).
Lumbar pain is severe, as if broken. This indicates that the Kidney function is approaching exhaustion.
Gouqizi (Goji Berry), Rongshirong (Cistanche Stem), Fuzi (Aconite Root Lateralis), Sheng Duzhong (Eucommia Bark), Chuanshanjia (Pangolin Scale), Lurong (Deer Antler with Hair).
In advanced age, both Yin and Qi are declining. Water flooding causes coughing and counterflow qi (rebellious Qi). There is abdominal distension and leg edema.
Yang rising leads to bleeding gums (Yaxuan). It is appropriate to secure the Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) channel.
Dabu Yin Tang (Great Tonify Yin Decoction) added with Renzhongbai (Calculus Bovis or similar calcareous deposit).
Essence turbidity and dry throat. Treatment should primarily focus on securing Yin essence.
Shudi (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Nvzhenzi (Privet Fruit), Xianglian (Sacred Lotus Seed), Muli (Oyster Shell), Fushen (Poria with Pine Root), Jinyingzi (Cherokee Rose Hip), Qishi (Chinese Euryale Seed), Kushen (Sophora Root).
Dry eyes, tinnitus, and essence turbidity all belong to Liver and Kidney deficiency.
Shudi (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Gouqizi (Goji Berry), Nvzhen (Privet Fruit), Weiruren (Polygonatum Rhizome), Cishi (Magnetite), Bei Wuwei (Schisandra Berry), Chuhu (Dendrobium Stem), Jushengzi (Sesame Seed).
Dampness obstruction transforms into heat. Symptoms include coughing, thirst, and desire to drink.
Lugen (Reed Rhizome), Baotongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), Zhe Ling (Fritillaria Bulb or Poria - context suggests Poria here often referred to as Zhe Fuling), Xingren (Apricot Seed), Sangbaipi (Mulberry Root Bark), Yiyiren (Coix Seed).
Damp pathogen lingers in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner).
Bohe (Mint Herb), Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), Lianyao (Lonicera Flower Bud/Heart), Xiangbei (Fritillaria Thunbergii Bulb), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Baixingren (Apricot Seed).
Wind-warmth invades the Upper Jiao. Symptoms include fever and swelling of the cheeks/jaw.
Bohe (Mint Herb), Niubangzi (Arctium Fruit), Mabo (Cordyceps Militaris or similar - historically refers to Lycoperdon or similar fungoid substance), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Xian Lugen (Fresh Reed Rhizome), Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit).
Yang injury with rebellious fluid retention. Symptoms include rapid panting and bodily edema.
Pain and bi-syndrome (obstruction) at Zhongwan (CV12). Occasionally, there is attacking and rebellious qi formation, accompanied by frequent seminal emission. This is due to Ying-blood deficiency, Qi stagnation, and collateral obstruction. The method should be to tonify deficiency and harmonize.
Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Zhi Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Fuling (Poria), Baishao (White Peony Root), Xinhui (Xinhui Tangerine Peel).
Chronic malaria injures Yin. Yang becomes excessive, causing collaterals to loosen. Symptoms include coughing, counterflow qi, and hemoptysis (blood in sputum). The method should be to nourish Yin.
Shudi (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Fushen (Poria with Pine Root), Zhen Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Chuanhu (Dendrobium Stem), Dancai (Edible Mussel), Doupí (Fermented Soybean Skin).
The body is robust but the pulse is thin. This indeed indicates Yang floating outward and damp-Yin settling downward. Symptoms include leg edema, soreness, and pain. According to treatment principles, it is appropriate to warm Yang and drain dampness. However, since Yang is already floating outward, warming herbs are generally unsuitable. It is unlikely that the medicinal effect can reach the lower part effectively.
Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fuzi (Aconite Root Lateralis), Yun Baifuling (Cloud White Poria), Chuanbi (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome), Yiyiren (Coix Seed), Niuxi (Achyranthes Root), Jinmao Gouji (Cibotium Barometz), Wancansha (Silkworm Frass).
Warm pathogen induces cough. Mistakenly treated with acrid-warm exterior-releasing dispersal methods, leading to loss of voice and lack of nourishment in the throat.
