Salty, greatly warm, non-toxic. It refers to the clotted masses found in the menstrual blood of a virgin upon her first menstruation, resembling cherries in shape.
Invention: Hongqian (Red Lead) is the residue of excreted filth. Its nature is greatly hot, and it fiercely tonifies the lewd fire of the Mingmen (Gate of Life). Taken with aged wine, one pill causes drowsiness and confusion akin to drunkenness shortly after ingestion; if two pills are taken consecutively, the pathogenic fire rebels internally, leading to sudden death, which serves as verification of the principle that "vigorous fire consumes qi."
Salty, warm, slightly toxic. Preparation method: Wash thoroughly with fragrant water, roast with suet (animal fat), pound into fine powder. For medicinal use, decoct, steep in wine, or take as powder according to the syndrome.
Avoid iron vessels.
Invention: The brain is the sea of marrow and the convergence point of all yang meridians. [Tianlinggai] can repel all yin pathogens and abnormal qi, hence it is called "Tianling" (Heavenly Spirit). When qi and blood in the human body are harmonious, various pathogens cannot invade. If yin and yang are discordant, the qi of Shizhu (a contagious chronic wasting disease) can invade due to deficiency, which constitutes the root qi of Zhaichong (tubercle bacillus/parasite). If a person has chronically deficient yang, the parasite attacks the spinal meridians, causing itching and dull pain in the spine, restlessness when turning over, occasional chills, or slight fever, with weakness in the four extremities, and a wiry, thin, and weak pulse. Only Tianlinggai San (Sky Skull Powder) can treat this. If a person has constitutionally deficient yin, the parasite erodes the zang-fu organs, causing epigastric discomfort resembling hunger, silence without knowing the specific source of suffering, pervasive discomfort, coughing and vomiting during activity, deep sleep and forgetfulness during rest, intermittent facial flushing, and a wiry, forceful pulse beating against the fingers. This belongs to the syndrome treated by Tatan Wan (Beaver Liver Pill), and Tianlinggai is not suitable. The formula for Tianling San uses one piece of roasted Tianlinggai (three finger-widths wide), three pieces of Red Areca Nut (Chibinglang), Bai Gansui (White Kansui Root), She Xiang (Musk), Zhen Anxi Xiang (True Benzoin), Awei (Asafoetida) half part, and Chensha (Cinnabar) one part, pounded and sieved into a powder. Decoct peach branches to make soup, mix with one dose at wugeng (3-5 AM). If parasites are not expelled after walking about five kilometers, administer another dose. At dawn, administer the third dose. Once parasites are expelled, immediately capture them and fry in oil. Parasites with yellow-red mouths indicate that the patient's qi and blood are not yet exhausted, and treatment can be curative. Parasites with blue-black-white mouths indicate exhaustion of qi and blood, making treatment difficult. However, this can also cut off the risk of transmission. When compounding, do not let the patient know. Choose a secluded and clean place. Avoid exposure to chickens, dogs, women, or those wearing mourning clothes. After expulsion, avoid rich, fresh foods and salt for half a month. Recover gradually with white rice porridge. If the illness is prolonged and the body cannot withstand the purgative effects of Gansui and Awei, simply wash the Tianlinggai with fragrant water, place it upside down in a silver vessel, fill with pure wine, and steam over water for the duration of one incense stick. Refill wine as needed. After one incense stick burns out, drink the wine. Shortly thereafter, dizziness and cranial distension occur, and Zhaichong are vomited out. Immediately scorch them with embers. After recuperating for three days, prepare the skull bone powder as described above. This powder also treats infantile smallpox presenting as grayish-white, depressed, and unerupted lesions, accompanied by irritability and restlessness. Administer 4-5 fen with wine to induce eruption. However, these are measures of last resort. As for applying it to genital chancre or incorporating it into Kuzhi San (Hemorrhoid Caustic Powder), placing the highest bone of the human body in filthy and unclean places, although extremely effective, is contrary to the mindset of benevolent gentlemen. Is there no other medicine available for treatment?
