[Invention] Lytta vesicatoria inhabits on Genkwa flos (Daphne genkwa) and is green in color; therefore, it can drain toxicity, attack accumulation, break blood stasis, and induce abortion. Its efficacy is similar to that of Mylabris (Mylabris phalerata), but its toxicity is more potent due to the inherent toxicity of Genkwa flos. It treats rabid dog bites, eliminates corneal opacity, alleviates hemicrania, and addresses deafness, all by leveraging its sharp toxicity. It is also used for amenorrhea with edema, as included in the Jiaoren Wan formula.

The *Shennong Bencao Jing* states it treats chills and fever, Gui Zhu (ghostly infection), Gu Du (poisonous worm disease), Shu Lou (scrofula), sores and carbuncles, erodes necrotic tissue, and breaks Shi Long (lithuria).

[Invention] When Mylabris (Mylabris phalerata) is obtained, a foul odor is emitted from its tail, which is unbearable. Its nature specifically targets the lower orifices and promotes urination; thus, the *Bencao Jing* mentions it can break lithuria. It can attack solid accumulations but cannot treat constipation due to deficiency. It merely guides medicinal qi to move, using toxicity to combat toxicity. However, as the toxicity exits via urine, it inevitably causes涩痛 (dysuria/painful urination); one should use Tong Cao (Tetrapanacis Medulla) and Hua Shi (Talcum) to guide excretion. Its nature is fierce and toxic, capable of inducing abortion, and is contraindicated for deficient patients. For rabid dog bites, first pluck two or three bloody hairs from the patient's head. Take seven Mylabris, remove wings and feet, roast until yellow, crush with Bufo bufo gargarizans (Chansu, Toad Venom) to extract juice, and ingest. Prick out the bad blood from the wound at a wind-free place, wash clean with urine, and apply hair ash to the site. After ingestion, turbid toxins should be discharged from the lower abdomen. Within three to four days, a shape resembling a small dog should appear; thirty to forty insects constitute a full course. If fewer are taken, administer another seven. If taken early, even without the appearance of the dog shape, the disease will never develop.

[Invention] Tingzhang (Lytta caraganae) is highly toxic. It effectively treats strangury and menstrual obstruction in women. Take five insects, grind into powder, and ingest 0.3 fen. Swallow with sweet licorice decoction on an empty stomach. Shortly after, acute pain in the umbilical and abdominal regions occurs; drinking black bean decoction will restore patency. This insect is called Tingzhang in May and June, with a red head and black body; in July, it becomes Mylabris; in September, it becomes Dizhan. Its toxicity varies with time, which is evident.

Its efficacy in draining lithuria downward is similar to Mylabris, possessing the power to induce vomiting upward and purgation downward.
