[Li Shizhen]
[Taste and Nature] Bitter, slightly warm, non-toxic.
[Indications] Decoct the juice to wash lacquer dermatitis (skin inflammation caused by contact with lacquer tree).
[Examination] It is said: Cui Bo (Platycladus orientalis), refers to the leaves of the flat cypress growing on the side. Its generation principles are seen in the examination section of "Cai Zi" (Cypress Seeds).
[Elucidation] It is said: The wood that harmonizes with white is Bo (cypress). Facing west to accept restriction (Metal restricts Wood), it preserves the virtue of Wood, thereby completing the substance and function of the Liver. The leaves grow sideways, referred to as Sun (grandson/offshoots), Luo (collaterals), Jing (channels), and Mai (vessels), mimicking their shapes. Since the Liver stores blood, if it loses what it stores, hematemesis (vomiting blood) will not stop; if it guards what it stores, how could there be hematemesis? Li Shizhen expanded its use to washing and treating lacquer dermatitis. For individuals with Metal constitution, the skin suffers from its harm, named "Heng Qi" (Lacquer Obstruction). With restriction and control in place, how can there be "Heng" (obstruction/arrogance)?
[Supplementary Records]
[Indications] Decoct the juice to primarily resolve arrow poison and female labor relapse (disease recurrence due to sexual exhaustion after recovery). Chen Cangqi said: For Yin-Yang Exchange disease (recurrence after intercourse following recovery from cold damage), burn it to ash and ingest it. Also, take the garments of the woman with whom one had intercourse and cover oneself with them.
[Examination] It is said: Kun Dang (undergarment crotch), is a type of small garment. Also known as Ku (trousers), also known as Diubi (Calf's Nose), also known as Chu Yi (Touching Garment), made from the crotch part of Kun. Cut from old garments near the hidden areas of male or female genitals.
[Elucidation] It is said: Kun is the garment for the thighs. Dang is the middle of the seam between the two thighs. Also known as Ku. "Ku" shares the meaning with "Kua" (stride/crotch). Also known as Diubi refers to the male crotch. Also known as Chu Yi refers to the female crotch; it does not mean short like Diubi or long like Chu Yi. Moreover, since Diubi is also an acupoint name, males can also be called Chu Yi, and females can be called Diubi. Generally, the Dang is the target where breath blows and fluids flow; this is where Qi gathers, which is also where emotions concentrate, where intentions go, and where the mind directs. It is the mutual induction between the emotionless [garment] and the emotional [body]. Washing with juice treats arrow poison and female labor relapse; burning to ash treats Yin-Yang Exchange disease. This is indeed the shooting of Fire and Water, achieving the union of Yin and Yang. Without these garments from the hidden chamber, they cannot withstand the impact of flying arrows; without these instruments close to the Yin organ, they cannot restore the collapsing Yang. Although possessing the differences of retribution body, subject and object, pain and itch, it never departs from touching dust and experiencing the violation or compliance of love and hate. Reading the aliases Chu Yi and Diubi allows one to anticipate the games of illusion and transformation, and enemy response.
