Hunting dogs seize prey, guard dogs eat sparingly, their nature is treacherous yet they bark to warn and defend, thus the Gen trigram symbolizes the dog because Yang Qi is above. Jackals kneel when seeing them, tigers become drunk after eating them, and they die if they consume the fruit of Momordica cochinchinensis (Mu Bie Zi). In Liaodong, there are Eagle-backed dogs that lay three eggs per clutch: one eagle, one hawk, and one dog, nourishing beasts with avian milk, exemplifying transformational generation. Han Fei said: "Fly-like maneuvering and dog-like skulking." Because of being "dog-like" (skulking/compromising), it takes the radical 'Gou'.
