Non-toxic. Donkey milk.
Horse milk stops thirst (Recorded by Famous Physicians). [Origin] Tao Hongjing said: People nowadays do not take it much because it is hard to obtain. The *Tang Bencao* commentary states: Horse milk and donkey milk have the same cold and purgative nature. When horse milk is made into cheese, it becomes particularly extremely cold. Jiangnan lacks horse milk, so nowadays they all use it. Speaking comprehensively from a cold perspective, the Hu people say that horse cheese has a warm nature; drinking it can digest meat accumulation. One should view this through the principle of mutual restraint among species, without being confined to hot or cold distinctions. [Collection] At any time. [Storage] Store in porcelain vessels. [Color] White. [Flavor] Sweet. [Nature] Cold and purgative. [Qi] Take it for fright-heat. [Contraindications] Do not eat together with raw fish; doing so will cause *jia* disease (abdominal masses).
Non-toxic. Dadiya (a compound drug). It primarily treats various diseases involving evil qi, sudden adverse qi, pathogenic qi, and accumulations in the heart and abdomen (Recorded by Famous Physicians). [Origin] *Tu Jing* says: It comes from the Western Regions. The locals make it by mixing various bile salts. Its appearance resembles old, spoiled pills, dark red-black. There may be some in Hainan today. The *Tang Bencao* commentary states: Hu merchants often bring it here; it is very precious. Trial use proves effective. [Storage] Store in porcelain vessels. [Texture] Resembles old, spoiled pills. [Color] Dark red-black. [Flavor] Pungent and bitter. [Nature] Neutral. [Qi] Thin Qi, strong Flavor; Yang within Yin. [Odor] Fishy.
Tu Mu Ji Shi (Excrement of the two-headed deer). It treats snake venom. It is the feces of a two-headed deer. It originates from Yongchang Commandery. Collect the feces and apply it to sores. *Bowu Zhi* states: Tu Mu Ji is an auspicious beast resembling a deer but with two heads. Its fetal excrement can be collected throughout the four seasons; it is unknown if this creature exists today. Tu Mu Ji is also known as Yu Yi. Fan Ye's *Book of Later Han* states: In Yunyang County, there is a divine deer with two heads that can eat poisonous herbs. *Huayang Guozhi* states: This deer originates from Xiong She Mountain in Nanjun, Yunyang; this is indeed the Yu Yi.
○ Various rotten bones. They treat bone-steaming consumption fever. Select a large amount of clean bones, scrape off the soil odor, and boil them in a pot. Take five dou each of peach branches and willow branches, boil until dry; take three dou of thorn needles, boil until reduced by half. Remove the dregs, mix with vinegar slurry, and boil for three to five boils. Take out and let the patient sit upright with loose hair. Pour the decoction over the head from top to bottom; heat is preferred. If the heart feels stuffy, one may consume a small amount of cold rice. Profuse sweating should occur to expel evil qi. After the sweat dries, powder the body and eat soybean porridge. Give less to those who are emaciated. Additionally, rotten bones from the east wall ground with vinegar can eliminate scars and remove ulcerative wind, sores, tinea, and white rot. The "east wall" refers to the eastern side of the wall, which receives the most sunlight.
○ Wu Zhan (Black wool/felt). Non-toxic. It treats burns causing open sores, preventing exposure to wind and water, stops bleeding, and dispels thief-wind. Burn to ash and take with wine, two qian bi (approx. 6 grams). It treats continuous postpartum hemorrhage. Long-term bedridden patients sucking human fat blood causes loss of complexion and asthma.
○ Sea otter. Salty flavor, non-toxic. It treats human poisoning from eating fish, pain caused by fish bones injuring humans, and fishbones stuck and unable to pass. Take the skin, boil the juice, and drink it. Sea people also eat its meat. The sea otter resembles an otter, is as large as a dog, and has skin on its feet like human calluses. Its fur does not get wet when touching water. There are also fish otters, sea cows, seahorses, and sea donkeys in the sea; their fur on land can raise hairs according to wind and tide. *Bowu Zhi* has this saying.
○ Groundhog. Sweet flavor, neutral, non-toxic. It treats sores caused by wild pheasants. The fleshy parts can be boiled and eaten. It is suitable for people living in the mountains, marshes, and caves of Xifan. The groundhog builds nests like otters. Barbarians dig them up and eat them. *Wei Lue* states: Daqin produces poison-dispelling rats, which are similar to this.
