[Qianjinzi (Semen Euphorbiae Lathyridis)]
Pungent, warm, toxic. Enters the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian, and Taiyang Meridian. Its function is specifically to break blood stasis and promote water metabolism. Remove the shell, select those with white color, press to remove the oil, take about ten seeds for decoction. It is highly effective in treating Phlegm-Fluid retention (Tan Yin). Also known as Xuisui Zi.

Bitter. Enters the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian blood level. Its function is specifically to treat Cold Hernia (Han Shan), Bi syndrome of the throat, carbuncles, sores, and boils. Treats women's Qi and Blood stagnation causing restlessness, syncope due to blood disorder, metrorrhagia, and leukorrhea. Promotes urination and defecation. Long-term use causes diarrhea. For treating dysentery, stir-fry with vinegar. Also known as Lishi.
[Bimazi (Semen Ricini)]
Bitter, toxic. The nature is good at astringing but also good at moving. Enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Its function is specifically to open orifices and collaterals. Treats hemiplegic headache. Mix with equal parts of Myrrh (Ruxiang), pound into a paste, apply to the Taiyang acupoint on the affected side. Once the pathogenic factor is released, it heals. Treats facial paralysis (deviation of mouth and eye). Use only Ricinus communis seed, pound into a paste. If the deviation is to the left, apply to the right; if to the right, apply to the left, and it will correct. Treats nasal obstruction and deafness. Wrap in cotton and insert into the ear. Treats throat Bi and tongue swelling. Take the oil, make into a paper wick, burn it to smoke the area. For bamboo or wood splinters embedded in flesh. Pound and apply to the wound site. Check frequently; once the splinter is removed, take off the medicine. Otherwise, it will damage healthy tissue. For bamboo, wood, or bone stuck in the throat. Grind together with Ningshui Shi (Alumen) into a small pellet, place at the root of the tongue to be swallowed, and it disappears immediately. For scalds and burns. Mix with equal parts of Ge Fen (Concha Tridacnitis). For scalds, mix with oil; for burns, mix with water, apply externally for efficacy. For jaundice. Fry Ricinus communis seed in sesame oil until charred, filter out the dregs. Apply frequently over three days, the skin color will turn black. For Hongxiangjiao (Tinea pedis/Foot odor) pain. Crush seven seeds, mix with Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill), apply to Yongquan (KI1) acupoint on the sole, pain stops immediately. For retained placenta. Place one Bimazi seed, one Badou seed, and 1 fen of Moshe (Musk) on the Shenque (CV8) acupoint and both Yongquan (KI1) acupoints. Remove after delivery. If uterine prolapse occurs, place several Bimazi seeds, pounded, on the Baihui (GV20) acupoint. Once retracted, remove immediately. Do not delay.

Bitter. Enters the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian blood level. Its function is specifically to treat heat-toxin dysentery. When combined with Qinpi (Cortex Fraxini), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis), and Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), it treats Jueyin heat dysentery. Contraindicated if there is no heat in the blood level. Best used with wine.
[Tuguan Gen (Radix Trichosanthis Kirilowii)]
Bitter, cold. Enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. Its function is specifically to purge heat and promote diuresis. Treats epidemic febrile diseases, jaundice, Xiao Ke (Wasting and Thirsting syndrome), frequent urination, leukorrhea, amenorrhea, and blood stasis. Promotes urination and defecation. Expels pus and reduces swelling. Promotes lactation. When mixed with Fulonggan (Calamina/Hearth Earth) juice and taken internally, it treats macules appearing in Shanghan (Cold Damage). This is Tuguan Gen Zi, also named Chibaizi. Treats Fei Wei (Lung萎) with hemoptysis, Chang Feng (Intestinal Wind) with bloody stool, and red-white dysentery. When taken with Zao Rou (Date Flesh) and Pingwei San (Pingwei Powder) using wine, it treats Fan Wei (Regurgitation).
