[Koulianzi (Fructus Toosendan)]
Bitter in taste. Enters the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian, Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, and Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. Its efficacy is specialized in treating various types of hernia. When combined with Yanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome), it treats heart pain caused by heat jue; when combined with Wuzhuyu (Evodia Fruit), it treats scrotal swelling and pain due to qi stagnation; when combined with Buguzhi (Psoralea Fruit), Xiaohuixiang (Fennel Fruit), and Shiyán (Salt), it treats unbearable unilateral testicular pain (pianzhui). In cases where parasites consume body fluids causing thirst, take a strong decoction of Koulian root bark, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk), and ingest to expel parasites, after which the thirst will cease naturally. It should be avoided by those with Spleen-Stomach deficiency-cold. Process by steaming with wine and removing the skin; the kernel and flesh should not be used together. If the kernel is used, crush it, using Huixiang (Fennel) as an guiding herb. Also known as Jinlingzi.
[Unnamed Herb - likely Baixianpi]
Pungent, sweet, and slightly cool in taste. Enters the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian and Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Its efficacy is specialized in cooling blood in all meridians, improving vision, and searching out wind from the Liver. When combined with Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit) and Jili (Tribulus Fruit), it treats skin bi syndrome characterized by numbness; when combined with Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome) and Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), it treats headache due to wind-heat. Use with caution in cases of blood deficiency with fire. Adversely interacts with Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) and Wutou (Aconitum Carmandi Radix Praeparata).
[Unnamed Herb - likely Wujiapi or similar]
Pungent, bitter, neutral in taste, and toxic. Enters the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Its efficacy is specialized in treating wind-bi resulting in weak legs. When combined with Lichu (Veratrum Nigrum) and Guading (likely a local name for a specific herb, possibly related to Cucumis melo seed or similar), ground into powder, blow a small amount into the nose three times a day. Internally, administer Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis) liver-pacifying medicines to treat strabismus (tongjing) in children. Use after roasting. Wujiapi (Acanthopanacis Cortex) serves as the assistant herb. Adversely interacts with Xiaoji (Cirsii Herba).
[Xinyi (Magnolia Flower Bud)]
Pungent in taste. Enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Its efficacy is specialized in dispelling head wind and treating nasal diseases. When combined with Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), and Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), it treats nasal congestion with runny nose and loss of smell. When combined with Nanxing (Arisaema Cum Bile), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), and Muli (Concha Ostreae), it treats biyuan (nasal sinusitis) with discharge of white purulent matter. Avoid in cases of nasal congestion due to occasional exposure to wind-cold, and in cases of blood deficiency with blazing fire. Remove surface hairs and use after baking. Chuanxiong serves as the guiding herb. Adversely interacts with Shizhi (Kaolin). Averse to Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Puhuang (Pollinis Typhae), and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma). Also known as Mibi Hua, also known as Yingchun Hua.

It is contraindicated if diarrhea is due to sudden violent evacuation from fire-heat, if there is involuntary urination, or if seminal emission is due to blazing deficiency-fire.
