Those with a red color and aged for a long time are of superior quality. Removing the white pith yields *Juhong* (Exocarpium Citri Reticulatae Rubrum). Removing the white pith eliminates phlegm, while retaining it harmonizes the middle jiao.
Bitter, pungent, warm, non-toxic. It transforms phlegm and treats coughs, regulates qi and harmonizes the middle, regulates the spleen and relieves chest fullness, stops vomiting and directs rebellious qi downward, promotes urination and aids digestion, unblocks strangury and moistens the intestines.
Treats cholera-like vomiting and diarrhea, eliminates epigastric discomfort and vomiting of green fluids; breaks up masses (*Zhengjia*) and accumulations, resolves fishy odors and rotting meat. It is most suitable as a food seasoning and effectively expels roundworms (*Cunbai*).
The fine-textured orange peel is red, thin-skinned, and rich in veins, with a bitter and pungent taste. If the texture is coarse, the color yellow, the skin thick, the interior contains much white membrane without veins, and the taste is sweet and pungent, it is *Ganpi* (Citrus reticulata 'Chachi' peel). If the texture is extremely coarse, the color yellow, the interior contains much membrane without veins, the skin is extremely thick, and the taste is mostly sweet with little pungency, it is *Youpi* (Pomelo peel). Nowadays, people often mix *Ganpi* into it; *Ganpi* is acceptable, but *Youpi* is vastly different. Removing all internal white parts is named *Juhong*, which specializes in transforming phlegm and directing qi downward. Grows in Jiangnan. Harvested in October.
For epigastric discomfort and vomiting of water: Take true orange peel, grind into powder, place half a fen at the third watch (5-7 AM) in the palm, lick it with the tongue, then sleep. It will be effective within three days. (Verified Formula 1.)
For cholera-like vomiting and diarrhea: As long as a trace of stomach qi remains, taking this will restore life. Take five qian of true orange peel and five qian of true *Huoxiang* (Patchouli), decoct and take frequently. (Formula 2.)
For regurgitation and vomiting of food: Take true *Juhong*, stir-fry with soil from the west wall, decoct with ginger and jujube, and take. (Formula 3.)
For sudden dysphagia due to food impaction: Stir-fry into powder, decoct, and take. (Formula 4.)
For phlegm obstruction in the chest/diaphragm and qi distension: Decoct in water and take. (Formula 5.)
For chronic qi-related cough: Combine with *Shenqu* (Medicated Leaven) and fresh ginger, steam with rice cake dough, make into pills, and take. (Formula 6.)
For "Hong Kong foot" rushing to the heart with hardness below the heart: Assist with *Xingren* (Apricot Seed) honey pills and take. (Formula 7.)
For constipation due to qi stagnation in the elderly: Same as above. (Formula 8.)
For numbness due to wind-phlegm: This is caused by damp-phlegm and dead blood. Take one jin of *Juhong*, decoct in water until soft, remove dregs, decoct again, and take in one dose to induce vomiting. (Formula 9.)
